  1. P44 has instructed me to stop lurking and start posting. Count me in also. [email protected] Have a female A.agassizii double red. Looking for a male. and 3 male steel blues. Are there any females out there? In Christchurch. Cheers Mark
  2. I dumped 30 or so baby convicts into my tank with oscars and a green terror. None to be seen after the feeding frenzy was done. Then a few months later during a large clean i find a healthy convict living between some rocks... much to the delight of the green terror curiously following my hands around the tank... :-( I did try to sell them first! Honest! Breeding convicts is a futile exercise as NO ONE wants the babies... Cept for hungry monsters that is...

    Kuhli loaches

I had some a few years back that bred. Totally accidental though. The wee narrow ones with more colour are males, the fatter more boring looking ones (which you don't often see in shops) are females. Thought they were different species until they started sprinting around right at the surface together. Greenish sinking eggs. I was too stunned at what i was seeing to react. My kind jewel cichlids were on station to hoover each and every egg :-( There was sun streaming into the tank at the time. They never repeated it, total fluke with water conditions at the time i suspect!
  4. They would be less then a year old... their lifespan is only 3 or 4! If its any help i'm doing 30% water change every 2 days. Feeding flakes, pellets and frozen 'cichlid tucker'. Tank is very heavily planted. Temp 26C
  5. Bad news When i arrived home after work yesterday both the male and the female were busy just polishing off the last of the eggs... dont blame them, being their first go and all. So never got the chance to retreive the things! (which i was doing due to the community tank situation Adodge ;-) )
  6. Thought they were too small so have made no preparations whatsoever... Community tank with GBA's and Danios. Found the male guarding about 90eggs last night. Right up agaisnt the front glass so easy to observe. They have laid on small grain gravel so retreiving the eggs will be difficult... set up a night light to give him a chance in the dark! Eggs still there this morning only a couple have turned white. Will attempt to retreive tonight and place in a net breeder. I have no spare tank! He's super aggresive towards the female now so gotta keep an eye on her health as well! ANY SUGGESTIONS! I have pics, but can't be bothered going through the steps to post them.
  7. My bad.... And if your kids are 24 then you're correct...
  8. Yeh likewise, i just like them, this is a dispay tank and they really catch peoples eye so they go in for a closer look, "ohhh whats thats thing??" Then they actually see the corys and the rams lurking around.
  9. yeh, but his PH might be whats killing off his Rams??
  10. yeh i'll take my chances i reckon, rather have them than the plant!!!
  11. I'd heard they can strip the top layer off broadleaved plants though??
