  1. I have successfully kept my maleri with all sorts of peacock's mbuna etc, however transcriptors are known for being more aggressive.. I would try a species or 2 of mbuna maybe yellow's and demasoni and one species of peacocks.. Of course this depends on your personal preference tank size etc, alot of people are very staunch about keeping tangs and malawi's together but I haven't had any trouble.
  2. Hopefully they're not like the really awesome guppies that they had down here, they didn't last very long and when bred from the babies came out all deformed.. I was very tempted to buy some but didn't glad I didn't after I heard a friend who brought some culled all of her's..
  3. That would be why Im talking about whistling tree frogs which are about 2cm's and I doubt they would fit a WCMM in their mouth's however ive never tried it, and frogs always amaze me with what they can eat..
  4. Were they tree frogs or the big ones?
  5. Im sure you could get away with tree frogs and WCMM?

    brown algae

Yep your welcome to borrow it Stella, when I was having algae problems it was phosphates getting in through my food, however im no expert so it may have no affect at all lol
  7. lol no need to feel bad, you could probably swap the GBA's for normal's anyway.. It would only be a problem if they did breed and any survived, I would say some probably would as by the time they leave the cave they're pretty amoured etc But yeah alot maybe all would get eaten its OTY really, personally I would get myself out of the potential situation before it happened, otherwise you could be faced with having to intentially destroy babies if they did breed any some survived.. And that would probably be alot harder than getting rid of a few now
  8. If it was brought as a GBA and conformed to every GBA trait you had ever seen then there is no reason to not sell it as a GBA..

    brown algae

Maybe someone local can lend you one if they've got a full test kit, its hardly needed in freshwater tanks only to test if you get algae problems Glad to hear the fish are colouring up well.. I picked up a female from Wellington for my male the other day so will see how she goes, I got 2 but lost one on the way up..
  10. Exactly the reason why you shouldn't do it, just because others out there steal and murder doesn't mean you should Yes yours might be crosses but by assuming they're not and only keeping GBA's with GBA's and normals with normals at least your keeping them pure and people who buy yours arn't getting setup.. Most self respecting breeders will do it right.
  11. Did we come to a verdict with this fish? How is he going?

    Have you tested for phosphates?
  14. I think its the usual story if your tank is cycled and your bio filtratioin adequate then it will be able to handle the indreased load.. So assuming your tank is large enough and not underfiltered then you should be fine.
  15. Ok so far we have me Jammos and stella who are keen for people to come over is there anyone else?
  16. They can and will cross breed, im pretty sure all babies will be brown and carry gold gene's unless your normal's carry the gold gene and then you will get a split.. Either way its not recommended, maybe post here and try and swap your unwanted strain or stick them in different tanks..
  17. It is possible and it is done, however Angels carry hex which doesn't affect them very much but does affect the discus probably not recommended Also Angels are quite agro discus not so much you would probably end up with discus in one corner and angels bashing them up.
  18. We were over there today and didn't see anything on the road sorry
  19. Im pretty sure fireban's dont extend to BBQ's anywhere do they?
  20. Depends what size and where you get it from, maybe check trademe

  22. Man thats a nice looking tank interesting mix too.. And awesome photo's as always you must have a pretty good camera..
  23. Ok well I might start arranging something.. Who's keen? Stella- Win- NRC- Ajbroome- Sandra- Jammo's- And who is keen to host people we could have a bbq or something? Were a bit out of the way out here in bull's though is everyone keen to travel we dont mind driving to palmy, could maybe fire up the bbq here or somewhere at the end of the drive around..
