  1. WCMM's woudl live in there but it wouldn't be a very good live and you wouldn't be able to stick many in there..

    Heya guys

    YAY its about time WB!
  3. Wow is that who I think it is! Are you back now?
  4. Maybe stick up a photo of what your talking about as I can't really picture it.. You might be able to brace it with 4 x 2 if its not enough already..
  5. I would get them to feed and do 2 weekly water changes... If your flat mates aren't capable then find someone off here to look after them be careful because non fishy people can make some stupid mistakes
  6. lol One of our dogs does it all the time.. He was starved for 2 weeks before we got him and is motivated by food, he has stolen roasts off the bench, a fully decorated pavlova, even gets right to the back of the bench and steals loaves of bread, peanut butter jars, marg, you name it! Over the last few months we have slowly began sorting him out but I think being a pig is always going to be part of him because of the way that the person who left him behind treated him..
  7. Personally I would find a breeder and buy them off them, most shops don't know what they're talking about when it comes to africans and even some of the fish on the list are dodgy.. Also when you take into account the cost it would cost you 4-5times as much to stock your tank from a shop as opposed to getting them off a breeder and you would be getting better fish, even if you took into account the cost of having fish shipped to you. As for asking for fish off the list.. You could ask for demasoni they were on there I haven't seen a list for a while but they retailed for $20ea and you would have to get 12 of these. Peacocks the ones I have pictured are baenshi, jacob's and dragons bloods, im unsure what peacocks are on the list at the moment they are around $40-50retail. And fryeri sometimes called electric blues on the list can be upto $80ea in a shop and usually dodgy.
  8. Bebo and facebook have some good things about them I have managed to catch up with alot of friends from school etc through other friends and find them all over the world its been awesome.. It has nothing to do with having a life!
  9. I don't feed bloodworms alot of the research ive done says this to me its just not worth it my fish do very well on the food that I feed I have no need to risk it with bloodworms go and buy some shrimp and make some homemade frozen food its better for them and cheaper.. "bloodworms have an undigestible exoskeleton and I wouldn't use them on any cichlid for any reason. Sure, fish are hardy and adaptable. I am sure their guts would get used to this undigestible material and learn to pass it, but why go that route when there's easy to use commercial foods with 0 chance of blockages. I once plugeed up one of my haps and after seeing a blockage passed after a dose of epsom salt, I will avoid bloodworms forever..." I'm sure none of you want to go through this.. http://www.malawimayhem.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6966 Or even worse have your whole tank wiped out by bloat..
  10. lol even if the light does stay on for a week it probably wont affect anything, maybe you'll come home to a bit of algae or an overgrown tank but it wont cause too many problems.. Some of the timers crap out, I think the main problems are when you use them in a fishroom with all the humidity etc..
  11. They should be fine.. Im sure you could convince someone you know or someone off here to feed them once in the middle to ease your concern.. If you get someone who knows nothign about fish make sure you leave out enough food for one feeding in a container and hide all the rest of the food so they don't have fun overfeeding your fish! Get a timer for your lights if your worried about them too
  12. Yeah I had 5 of them I got sick of them beating the crap out of each other.. I sold them all to Callum and he said they were all males lol probably why I was having issues!
  13. Aristochromis Red Top - Otopharynx lithobates are in NZ A few different strains ask for photo's of parent fish before buying.. Pseudotropheus polit - I haven't seen them around probably not in NZ, the only ps. we get that im aware of us demasoni. Cobalt zebras are a similair colour. Labidochromis sp. "Perlmutt" - I haven't seen these, similair colour to aurora's though.. Metriaclima fainzilberi (Hongi Is.) - I wish we had these lol You might get a similair colour out of afra.. All of the above except for the litho's are mbuna and quite aggressive.. If you did manage to get them all which im pretty confident you won't except for the litho's it would probably end up with one dominant male and the rest hiding or being subdom and not colouring up and all sorts of hybrids produced.
  14. I think that she used to have the cat in her room but decided not to.. Personally I would just leave the door open and stick your brushes in the drawer lol Your kitten will get over it she is only young, lol mind you cats have such wicked attitudes and are very stubborn
  15. Good to see I have no idea what went down but glad to see an apology on here
  16. Heres what id do Dem's peacocks and some fryeri Obviously if you wanted to keep more than one type of peacock you would have to go all male and that can be hard to make work.. Another consideration would be if you wanted this to be a tank you could take babies out of or not? Dem's and yellow's would breed true and so would one species of peacock and you could maybe do some zebra's as well but they might be hard on peacocks..
  17. lol well let me know when there are some for sale
  18. Glad to hear it sounds like you have things sorted with the other colony so fingers crossed for you Maybe one day ill get the guts up to give them a go too lol
  19. For sure good luck with them.. I have been tempted but always worried about paying top $$ for fish that may or maynot have been looked after by the shop/importers with tropheus that can cark it for no reason and some people have no idea how to look after it would be a major concern for me especially considering what they're worth..
  20. Id just ignore her let her get over it.. If you start giving her attention or pats or anything then she will start getting into a habbit of it and then you will have to be up every morning at 6am lol Obviously if there is something wrong with her (ie needs to go out to go toilet and you have no litterbox/catdoor then that wont work but im assuming everythign is ok and the kitten is just wanting attention or someone to play with.
  21. Awesome glad to hear it those were the 2 that are being bred here
  22. Am I reading this right have you ordered 15 of each of those fish? lol meaning around $5-6k worth of fish? Or will they not even consider getting them because of the reasons you listed? Ikola and pemba are in NZ and as far as I know at least one person is breeding them.
  23. lol well what colours do you want? Did you want to go african's or other's? You have a good sized tank you could do a reasonable amount with
  24. Isn't it just like breeding 2 different coloured guppies together? They will cross breed but if its a community tank there is little chance of babies surviving so I wouldn't worry about it if you did want to breed them later on then take the blues out breed them then take the golds out breed them.
  25. I am going to give it a go but I am a responsible breeder if anything random does come out then it will be disposed of I just really want this gold to have babies because he's awesome ill get some pics at some stage.. AFAIK golds are just a colour varient of the blues and im talking normal blues and normal golds not those mutant ones..
