lol this is my best headunit it cost $1k and I don't trust the cowboys at the car audio installation places to play with my car I have done 5 years of electrical training including 2 years at uni Unfortunately its all on aircraft and doesn't help here I might try and give them a ring and see what they say its just an aerial so no danger of blowing anything up.
-
I am trying to stick the stereo in my 96 avenir, pulled the factory one out and found it has a random aerial plug with 2 centre pins in it and I also cant seem to find an antenna on the outside of the car.. What do I do with these wires to make them fit into my standard sony heatunit? I was going to buy a plug and just put the 2 centre conductors together into it but unsure where they actually goto.. Maybe someone will know im sick of wading through piles of internet pages and it seems there are no useful nissan forums around.

lol whos that? I will have dems and yellow's coming up for sale but only babies they will look tiny in your tank... I may have peacocks trying to get the baenshi and jacob's to breed at the moment
-
Awesome always good to get stuff cheap or free.. All the buffering substrate is white anyway so don't worry about that Thats a random mix of fish you had there mystic it looks cool! The fronts have grown though.. As mystic said sand isn't a problem to clean just hover over it and be careful not to suck too much up you can syphon into a bucket and chuck it back in if that happens anyway. Sounds like your getting everything sorted now lol have you decided on any fish yet?
-
I believe this is an example of how to get something added to the list.. http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/appfiles/exec ... 04-001.pdf Plus the associated fee and time for maf to contact erma and then do there thing..
-
I just went to the river and grabbed some rocks and drift wood and chucked it in my tank The reason for using those other rocks is to buffer and raise the ph..
-
I have heard them refered to as that.. But I certainly wouldn't advertise them as dwarf cichlids in case someone mistook them for peaceful fish and tried to put them in a community tank even though I always check people know what they're getting and put it in the auction anyway so no worries there
-
Yep saw that a while ago to me it seems they are trying to appeal to the same market as blue rams cockatoo's and other community type true dwarf cichlids.. Hmmm maybe I should list some demasoni as dwarf cichlids they do stay small? Smaller than brichardi as well! lol

I'm not sure if this is where I should put this...

Or as long as you don't have an accident which people do.. I had an accident and ruined my stand I was always careful etc.. And it was painted etc it seems to just soak in and once its been wet and soaked in once its gone. I guess it all depends on price and sized tank, mine was for a 5ft tank and it caused a headache due to the size of the tank etc. For a smaller tank and smaller price you don't have much to loose and can easily move the fish/tank to build another one. -
Awesome glad you got some And 2 days early how did you know when they were supposed to breed?
-
lol its your thread you can talk about what you want and its stayed more or less on topic Buffering is basically something that gets your kh and usually ph up keeping the ph stable. This can be done by adding baking soda and stuff with water changes (see cichlid-forum recepie for buffer) or by having crushed coral, limestone, argonite, oyster shells or any number of things in your tank. While the africans don't need a high ph and hard water to live they do prefer it higher and also all fish prefer it stable so adding these things is a good way to keep them happy.
-
Yeah it may leach stuff, I would stick with the old one I have some bits in my african tanks only small ones just as a token for the bristlenoses really.. If you have descent buffering coral sand or argonite or oyster shells or even adding baking soda it shouldn't change the ph.

lol if your careful or its sealed well they're ok.. I will never touch one again IMO they're a waste of money you have them next to a tank filled with water its inevitable they get wet once wet they fall to bits potentially breaking your tank and ultimately end up rubbish. You could maybe get something to seal it with and take the tank off seal it all before use? -
lol well ill just shut up then.. I thought there used to be a heap of different species but they realised they were all the same and renamed them..
-
I use pumice and it seems to go alright for me I just rinse it out with the rest of the media in the filter and it doesn't seem to get visably clogged or anything like that.. As for its performance I can't see the bacteria and run all sorts of other media in the filter so doing tests etc can't really show me..

With buffering you can keep the driftwood in your african tank

Yep thats what I was saying discus are discus and you can cross them with no problems.. Hybrids are a big problem with africans and heres a quote that I found in a link that someone just added that may help its for africans but you can see where its going and how it similair to what your suggesting.. "Breeding Don'ts - Finally, reproductive behavior tends to cause major problems with Cichlids, especially with monogamous species, where sexually active individuals are highly aggressive. Examining Cichlid reproductive behavior is beyond the scope of this "handbook", but we have a few major suggestions to make to anyone considering raising these fish. NEVER encourage your fish to interbreed with other species, or races of the same species. NEVER sell or raise hybrid fish. In the long run, these "mutts" are what really turn people off to Cichlids. When someone purchases a Flameback Hap, they expect males to mature and develop a bright red back. The chances are slim that a hybrid "Flameback" will do this, instead it will probably end up very ugly! Put yourself it that person's place. It's easy to see why we recommend that you avoid these situations. With all the problems facing the ecosystems where these fish naturally come from, we may someday have to rely COMPLETELY on captive raised fish. Concerns For The Future - Lake Victoria is a prime example. Of the approximately 300 species of Haplochromine Cichlids which were endemic to this lake (not found anywhere else), approximately 200 are either extinct or well on their way to becoming so. This is because humans have introduced Nile Perch into the lake, which happened to be extremely effective at preying on these Cichlids. Now, institutions are striving to save what is left. One of the more popular species, Haplochromis sp. "Zebra Obliquidens" (Astatotilapia latifasciata) is now thought to be extinct in the wild, surviving only in hobbyists' aquariums. We cannot risk destroying our valuable captive populations by allowing hybrids to pollute what we have." from http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/crp9.htm

Yeah I think you need to add some more fish to give them some confidence to come out and about Maybe its just the flash from the camera.. IMO dem's, yellows and some peacocks is the most colourful and easy to source setup you can have for a smaller tank. I think im going to have to pull all my demasoni and yellow breeders out of the big tank and set them up in their own tank at some stage I have been considering it for a while now because its so annoying pulling a 540L tank down to catch one 1" holding female to strip every few weeks.
-
I'm pretty sure they will cross.. However all hybrids should be discouraged as it dilutes the pure fish we have around the place and its just generally bad news for the hobby. I don't know about these cories but im pretty sure they're all different species not different colour strains like discus which you can cross without creating hybrids however this can result in some ugly fish.
-
You can sometimes find it on trademe or else a shop should be able to get it in its not cheap though.. Danilada - nice tank lol wheres the fish?
-
Yep unfortunately when dealing with MAF about fish they either don't care or don't know or a combination of both.. Its probably not that much of a money spinner or somethign they deal with often so you can kind of understand it I guess.. Maybe they need a few clued up people in there offices who just deal with fish?
-
You do have alot of yellows in there I guess you could take some out or just add more dem's..
-
And as far as im aware MAF still very much control it

That link is for the importation of fish bait and brine shrimp etc.. Heres the live animal one http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/files/bi ... 364-ft.pdf And heres the guidelines for a setting up a quarantine facility http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/border/t ... -02-06.htm

I'd take Glenn up on his offer He has more peacocks than me
