  1. I meant. Did you plant them in a pond outside, in an unheated unlit aquarium or in a well lit unheated aquarium etc.
  2. Flashing, lethargy and clamped fins are all signs of external parasites or bacterial infection. If there are no salt like white spots (whitespot) or pepper like spots (velvet) I would go with columnaris and salt will not do it. You need an antibiotic and furan is the easiest to get without a prescription.
  3. Columnaris is a bacteria and is also known as saddleback (where it causes a patch over the back that looks like fungus), and also can cause a growth around the mouth that looks like and is called mouth fungus.
  4. The other thing could be finrot from fin damage and an oportunistic fungal infection over the top. Furan will fix that as well.
  5. Sounds like columnaris. Salt etc will not work try Furan2
  6. The "high risk fish" will be high risk to import because of the higher risk of having added costs through extra testing.
  7. Welcome to the forums and hope to see you at a Totally Tanked meeting.
  8. It is unlikely that the steel frame will do anything other than look good if it is added afterwoods. A steel frame tank will have the glass glued into the frame in order to get support. I would add proper European bracing rather than cross straps. If I was building one that long and with that water height I would have used 10mm glass. Another way would be to alter the ramp so you can drop the water level down to about 300mm. I built one which I gave to Donna and if I recall it was about that size but 10 mm glass and not braced..
  9. ALLRIGHT ALLRIGHT I will admit I did watch it.
  10. Have you got European bracing and a basking area? What dimensions is the bracing? You need enough height above the dry dock so they can't climb out and the depth of water is the crucial measurement for glass thickness.
  11. Welcome to the site and hope to see you at a Totally Tanked fish club meeting some time.
  12. Harmless to fish. Some fish would graze on it.
  13. It will be all over before you know it and then we can keep paying it off for the next 20 years.
  14. You can use the fine willow roots that grow in a river from willow trees on the banks or you can make up mops from synthetic wool like the killie fish enthusiasts use.
  15. Nice to see at least one person winning. I am about as enthusiastic as the Americas cup. It won't do much for Joe Blow other than put taxes up.
  16. It would be posible for a gravid snake with fertile eggs to land in NZ and there are snakes living in Australia in climatic conditions very similar to here. I love reptiles but I love our natives more than strains.
  17. I haven't changed my mind on the matter since I saw them smiling and saying on TV tonight that they are on course to only lose over 30 million dollars. And who is paying for that? Some investment.
  18. The leps don't need as much space as beardies. I had 4 in a 900 x 600 x 450 until it fell over in the shakes. I would go for a bit more height if you are using ceramic heaters. I use 4litre icecream containers half full of moist sphagnum moss as hides and a bit more height will allow you to place the heater where they cannot get burnt if up on the hide.
  19. Some people put a damp paper towel over the eggs but I find a sealed container enough. You can always spray with warm water if you see they are drying out too much. It is important to have the envirinment moist, particularly near hatching time to make it easier for the young to emerge from the shell.
  20. Up to you but I don't put holes in the container as sealing it keeps the humidity up. This is why you need to open them periodically to get fresh air in.
