  1. I have an aiptasia outbreak and would like to get a fish or shrimp to keep on top of it. I know that the copperband butterfly fish is good at this and was wondering what other fish enjoy it as well? I heard that the foxface rabbit fish does as well but cannot find any info to back this up? What are other people using (other than a syringe)? Cheers Chris
  2. The Zeilo I am using has an add-on that can output 0-10v.
  3. Really depends on what you want it to do, how many things it needs to control, what you want it to monitor etc. mine is fairly basic at this stage as it only controls the temp and some lights, cost about $700 so far. It can be added to later to monitor the ph, water level, conductivity etc and activate some dosage pumps. Can even get a GSM interface to text you the levels of the tank, you can even activate diferent things on the unit that way too (great when on holiday)
  4. I've just set a basic one (a smart relay) up to control my lights, heater, chiller, cooling fans, and some pumps. Cost >$500 Fun = absolutly Programing = simple (for this one) Flexable = no rewiring just a couple of mouse clicks Chris
  5. I saw this on trademe Needs a bit of work to get rego but how cool. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 692185.htm happy bidding
  6. I have a contact here in NZ who has this technology. Slightly different configeration to the one in the articale though. It is quite expensive at the moment but has the advantage of no heat and great out put. I have a tank that is 1000mm x 500mm x 500mm and they recomend that I only need one unit to light it sufficently. the unit is only 533mm long and has 3 lighing pods. It is water proof and I'm sure it can be mounted under the water as well. If you want any more info give me a pm ps they are quite expensive Chris
  7. Thanks Michael I'll send you a self addressed envelope so it won't cost you anything I really appreciate it Chris
  8. Hi everyone, I have aquired a 'JBL Testlab Marin' but the instruction booklet is distroyed, so was wondering if anyone has a spare one or at least charts for the following tests. JBL KH JBL NH4 JBL NO2 JBL NO3 JBL O2 JBL Mg JBL Ca JBL Cu JBL PO4 If you have any spares please pm me. Much appreciated Chris
  9. Thanks He has only been in the tank since saturday so that part is understandable. I thought that he might have to have some mussel left on the bottom to feed on.
  10. I have my first cleaner shrimp in my tank, I don't get to see it much and it dosen't come out at 'feeding time' so I thought before I starve it I'd find a better way to feed him. So I am interested in ways people have found to be the most effective to feed their shrimp? Cheers
  11. I'm looking to do the same. What containers do you guys use?
  12. Can any one point me to a calculator for lighting levels for a reef tank please.. I am building up my collection of corals and anemones and need to improve my lighting arrangement. The tank is 1m wide x 600mm deep and 500mm front to back. Currently I have 3x 30w tubes (2x 14000k 1x20000k) which was good for a start but needs upgrading. If you any sugestions for wattage and colour I am most interested. Cheers Chris
  13. Impressed with the inbuilt cabinet idea. Very inovative. What room is it located in?
  14. damn good response I'll say or are we all board stitting at home surfing the net?
