  1. Keyhole cichlids are nice and relaxed for a good sized fish with plenty of personality

    The Move

Very sad guys Just hope it was worth is cause its not going to be the same down here without you! I'm sure you'll have plenty breeding soon to replace the numbers - just a shame you can't breed clowns from your oscars!
  4. yeah thats the one I had
  5. yeah for sure, I had dwarf neon rainbows with mine
  6. Umm... well I don't think I ever saw mine eating any - but they might be 'officially' I'm not sure...
  7. Yeah very easy, I had him in a 500l tank with general community fish, congo tetra's and stuff. Give them plenty of big bits of wood they can rest on (keeping in mind how long they get the wood needs to have quite big flat surfaces). I'd didn't find mine to be the most active fish, but as he had plenty of nice resting places in full view you could always see him...
  8. I had one - cool fish I'm sure planetcatfish has got some good info...
  9. I'll 2nd the pit digging, mine do too... Tank looks awesome though
  10. Hey I've been watching V for Vendetta and missed all of this! sounds like its different to the stuff I've got... I'll just listen now I think!
  11. I would cut the light down then - you shouldn't have them on for more than 10 hours max, and also I've got mystery snails (pet shops sell them as cold water) they are fine in tropical as long as you let them warm up slowly. They are nice big snails and the fish don't seem to bother them that much. They also breed like apple snails (eggs out of the water) so are easy to control numbers wise. They do like lots of food though so don't put in loads if you only got a wee bit of algae cause they won't survive...
  12. lots of african's like to eat it- what fish do you have? My fronts often crop the algae (and stuff that lives inside it) so I'm more than happy to have it cause for lots of them its their natural diet...
  13. I get mine from local streams
  14. I also just learned that on photobucket - if you copy the link to the pic when you are logged in, it doesn't work. You have to logout and then go to the pic and copy its link then... does that make sence??!
  15. maybe you should call him Nemo and start calling it his lucky fin!
  16. So what do you want to know??! http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb28 ... CF1900.jpg Please resize your image. It's nearly twice the screen width. Mod Bill.
  17. Yeah - by far the best way to do it is to have a good relationship with your local.
  18. Yeah I agree! But I do think it would be nice to make the whole thing more transparent for people who aren't aware how many fish do actually come from overseas...
  19. I think it would be nice if shops marked all of their fish as being NZ made or imported... Clothes are after all!!
  20. Umm... I know I'm not the only one thinking it - They are called Cichlids... Sorry  ! Awesome fish though, I used to have one that had one eye! I got him cause I felt sorry for him - it was a shame cause their blue eyes are one of their best features I think but he needed a good home!
  21. I've spend HOURS trying to find shell dwellers in NZ (over several years) - as far as I know you can't I know there are a few people who want some - if we all stick together we can always try and get some money together and bring some in!!! Anyone else up for it??!
  22. I think it might be peacock moss.. one of the ones we can't get here...
  23. Looking great Should be even better once the vallis has grown in!!
