So what do you hand feed him? Worms? or just pellets etc?
I think I'll definatly give it a go!
Mine is always very active and he's usually out and about all day. I think I'm going to give him some kribs to be friends with, its not a biggy if he does eat them eventually, and in the mean time I'm sure they'll 'make' some food for him to pick off!
Yeah I think I'm going to go for a butterfly and kribs - maybe just the one, maybe a pair - I didn't really want to have kribs breeding in there but I guess if I put a pot for them right at one end they shouldn't cause too much trouble...
Are the African Knifes available? I've never seen any...
Well I'm not sure if he would be able to fit one in... He can only just eat his neons, and I'm not sure if could ever eat anything bigger than a zebra danio even when he's fully grown, but I guess its better safe than sorry, shame though!
Yeah I like syno's and I've got one with my Fronts and have had a few in the past, but I think they would get a big in the long run...
I think elephant nose's are a big ugly really... Interesting fish I know but not my type!
African knife would be very nice! But can we get them here??
Awesome thanks
I've asked a few Q's on the aution so we'll see how that goes...
Do you know how long they live for?
Cause they are alot of money for two fish and I tought Killies had quite short life spans?!
Thanks
Yeah King Killies sound interesting...
I've stuck a post in the killie section to try and find out from some of the experts!;

I've had a look on google for a King Killie but couldn't find any pics... anyone got any leads on that??!
Kribs are definatly a good idea - I've thought about them but really don't want to start breeding them again, cause I don't really want a pair taking over the tank, will probably get a nice male though
Hey guy's
I'm looking to find some tank mates for my bichir that are from Africa and someone said maybe killies...
Do you have any comments on that??!

If so - what types get big enough?
Any does anyone know of any in Wellington??!
Thanks
Yeah I've alway's liked killies - even though I've never had any...
I guess they would be big enough but we don't get many down here in Welly! Does anyone know of any locally?!
Also does anyone who has them think they would be good??
Yeah I used to have some silver distichodus, awesome fish but they would eat the plants and I want to have a planted tank for once!
I did think about ctenopoma's too but I think they would be too big...
Pencil's are nice fish too and might just be big enough - but aren't they from S. America??!
Thanks for the idea's
Hey guy's
I've just set up a new tank for my bichir and was wondering if anyone has ideas on a good tank mate... I keep giving him neon's as friends but they just disappear
The tank is only 3' so I don't have that much room - I was thinking maybe a Butterfly fish? I want to try and keep it as natural as possible when it comes to fish so only African's really.
Any ideas??!
I think fresh is better cause you know it won't leach out anything that it could have absorbed from the sea water but thats just the way I think of it - not that its right!
I usually go with - if it’s from fresh water, its probably safe. But I'm not sure what that would be up with all of your volcanoes...
Either way I'd defiantly boil it to clean it off if its from under the water and has aglae etc on it, otherwise I don't think its such a biggy
