TomGilberg
disaster strikes! i have managed to kill some if not all of my shrimp. great start! after some research and joining a shrimp forum i found out what i think is the problem. they were acting fine untili did a 50% water change. then things went down hill quickly. i was told it was the tds shock (total dissolves ssolids) from a big change, makes sence right? i wont be doing large water changes anymore, ill try 25%, just twice as much. so i think ill buy some white pearl or red fire shrimp at 1.20 i can cope with deaths a little easier than the orange ones (((
Godly3vil
Bugger dude, that sucks! Did you use water conditioners for the water changes? I heard that shrimps etc. don't like it and hardly survive if you do?

Godly3vil
I don't think you are supposed to use water conditioners with shrimp dude. Maybe just age your water or find out if you even need to use it, your water may not be treated with chlorine or chloramine.
TomGilberg
i just found a water parameter chart for this area http://www.ruhrpower.de/fileadmin/downl ... rheide.pdf it might be a bit confusing for you as its in german, but what am i looking for when im looking for the chlorine content. i can only see chloride
Godly3vil
My Germans a bit rusty but I don't see any chlorine, best to ring the water supply company and ask them if they do treat it with either. I am not sure if chloride is toxic to fish or plants.

alanmin4304
Chloride---common salt. If the water is chlorinated they should be testing for free available chlorine.

TomGilberg
ok so its time for a fishy update the first group of fish i got is availible in nz, but i think they are neat. also i couldnt get my hands on any sundadanio axelrodi. some are a bit skinny but most are healthy looking fish, i paid for 15 but got around 17 i think. next is something a little more exciting Hara jerdoni they are this super cute catfish, they have really long (incomparrison to their body) pectorial fins they are nocturnal, but i have seen them shooting between hiding spots and here are some more photos of my tank and the plants i got some hygrophila pinnitifida hope you liked the update
