dont bother with a skimmer these tanks are small enough you can get away with just doing water changes.

i picked up my pair of tank bred true percs for $50 ($25 each) + $25 shipping from auckland. it can be done...

general rule of thumb 10% per week water change but is all dependent on stocking i have a 240L reef with 40L sump and i do around 40L a week/fortnight depending on how lazy im feeling

oh and the algae will come. give it time

dymax xp30 skimmers also fit i ran my skimmer in the first chamber and had a custom built media rack in the second chamber i found this combo very effective. looks good so far tho what is that you have in the end chamber above the return pump?

in a fish only you will probably get away with a 5L wc a week i was only doing 10L a week because i had a lot of coral in there so wanted to keep the levels up. some times i would stretch it out to 10L every fortnight or 3 weeks depending on if i had enough salt lol

pure due is fine if you dont have a ro/di filter, as for water changes i was doing 10L a week and was getting great growth from all my corals

whoops just seen you are in auckland, aquaworld, hollywood fish farm just to name a few both sell live rock i would advise buying at least one piece to seed your tank

bit of a over statement as long as you seed the tank with a piece of lr which you will want to do because that will have pods,snails,worms, stars ect ect in it already your dead rock should be cycled with in a couple weeks. this misconception of months to cycle a tank is wrong nither of my tanks took "months" and that was using all dead rock then adding one piece of live rock eg my 240ltr tank i used around 20kg dead rock and 1kg live was cycled in under a month as for going out and buying live rock you can at most pet shops that sell marine stock where are you located?

yeap tank was shut down last year, at the time my wc schedule was 10L per week i would highly reccomend anyone looking to buy one of these basicly throw out everything that comes with it and buy replacements only thing i kept was the heater. i had a media rack in the middle chamber, skimmer in first chamber and return pump and heater in last chamber. tunze 9002 skimmers fit in the back quite well and are great skimmers also eheim compact 1000's are great for a return pump. if you want a wave maker the tunze 6015 is probably your best bet or the new wp10 from jebao. all in all great little tanks check out www.thenanoreef.co.uk and also www.ultimatereef.com as there are quite a few people on there with these tanks and can offer great advice

latest breaking bad... speechless it is getting loose! i dont want it to end watched the latest sons of anarchy last night i was a bit disappointed tbh i was really looking forward to it and it just didnt do it for me hoping the rest of the season gets better also recently finished watching the wire amazing show every season of that show was awesome! if you havnt watched it watch it you wont be disappointed

took a few pics of the goby today as he was sitting right up the front of the tank first time ive seen him out of his hidey hole so thats good! also a couple pics of my nem that the clowns refuse to host haha p.s please excuse the dirty glass and dieing plating monti my stupid hermit pushed the monty off its perch onto the hammer last night and now its looking worse for ware hoping it comes right

haha good thinking... only problem i can see other than diseases would be the stress put on the fish during catching, transport ect ect but its a good idea especially if you know a few people with aip issues

cheers guys quick update after my last peppermint shrimp dissapearing basicly as soon as it went in the tank (im pretty sure it was eaten as it had molted during shipping so went in the tank with no real shell) ive been on the look out for more and today was the day was waiting for my lfs to get some in and today they arrived along with my new goby ended up getting 3 peppermint shrimp and a wheelers prawn goby, hopefully the peppermints will make a nice dent in the aiptasia population other than that tanks ticking over nicely had bad algae problems lately due to high phosphates so recently replaced the rowaphos, carbon and recharged the purgen that was in the tank along with a fairly large water change (25ish ltrs from a 55ltr tank haha) anemone is growing bigger and bigger by the day but hangs out on the back side of the rock formation unfortunately so no good for photos. new tank build is well underway and most of the stock in this tank will be transfered once that is cycled but untill then this is now full as far as i am concerned heres some pics of the new additions p.s sorry glass is dirty and iphone pics so please bare with me goby shrimp hanging out together

haha thats what i need but my tank is too small for a copperband :facepalm: thanks for the offer but most of my rock has coral attached so im not too keen of moving it haha lucky the new tank should be ready to go soon then i might have to get my own copper band haha

my nano is full of it haha if i can get my anemone to move off one of the rocks ill let you know it has a fair few on it (the rock not anemone), i have just added 3 peppermints to the tank tho so will see how they go first. there are a few small frags of zoos i have that also have aiptasia on them that you could have if you wanted to use them to seed a aiptasia culture? could use the middle compartment of your sump put them in with some other live rock and swap it out for rock in the tank as they get eaten/grow

hey guys i got a new radion gen 2 today and im now having trouble connecting to the ecosmartlive servers it seems. it was working this morning but once i came home after work to set up the programing i started having issues. the ecosmart manager says im connected to ecosmart live and also says that my radion is connected but when i go into the ecosmart live site it just keeps saying connecting at the top and on the left where it shows my lights it says the light is dissconnected has anyone else had this problem or having this problem today??

or if you know anyone with a pilots licence just hire a small plane lol

i was more thinking put them in poly boxs and you and the misses could have that as your carry on? not sure what flights are worth from invegas - nelson but i also didnt think of the weight of the water and such could end up costing a fair bit but the up side would be it would only take like a hour to get there instead of the 14 hour drive and would probably be a more comfortable ride?
