amtiskaw
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/artic ... d=10852018 Is there some sort of black market for fish in NZ?

calculator
I want to know what fish they were, but $50-$100, they are not that expensive fish. :smot: but I like the alliteration in the title.
Adrienne
They are unlikely to be tropical if in a pond and goldfish theft from ponds is common up here.
alanmin4304
You could pay those prices for good quality orandas
Dr A
Could just be a heron or kingfisher...? I'd be kind of disappointed if the police put lots of time and effort into investigating this.
Li@m
If he's worth $220 Million then I'm pretty sure $10,000 won't really worry him.

It's often not about money, insurance covers most thefts, it's the feeling of being stolen from.

henward
50 to 100...... pttff! nah! not expensive! if it was ornamental koi imported, illegally kept, he would NEVER have called the cops. they were probably just large comets, large comets cost 50 to 100 bux each at times. Caryl
It is also possible he can afford to heat said pond and perhaps had oscars or other large cichlids in it. A heron could clean out a pond in a matter of hours too.
SamH
A heron could clean out a pond in a matter of hours too. I'd love to see a heron eat "120 large exotic fish" in a few hours :sml1:
lmsmith
It's often not about money, insurance covers most thefts, it's the feeling of being stolen from. And other societal harms - there's good reasons why as a society we should want the police to catch people who steal things. So this time, it's fish out of a pond. Next time it could be a TV from inside your house - and we've all seen the cases where robberies go wrong result in someone's death. A huge heated pond full of oscars would be amazing. Arowanas? How cooL!
henward
I can tell you right now, if i was worth 220 million, i would have a massive outdoor pond heated full of aros, large fish. In fact, i would probably do it if i was worth less:D
disgustipated
i know that house it's like fort knox, massive tall concrete fence around it, steel gates, cameras everywhere etc. i'll put money on it that it's an inside job. if they were just common thieves then i'd be surprised if they can sell on that many fish let alone store them until they are sold. they were probably stealing to fill an order. someone on here will probably hear something about it.... it's possible the pond was heated. it's even possible it was salt. with 200mill, anything is possible! also, 10 points for alliteration. It is unbelievable how large a fish they can grab, and how fast!

disgustipated
catching and transporting 120 large fish is a huge job! even for professionals. which makes me think. it had to be someone who knew how to take care of these fish, and had access to the pond. interrogate the keeper i reckon. Riccordia
Not sure how they may of got in but they could of got the fish with a Large net and dragged the pond that would get all of them in 5 min then run to the car or truck to put them in containers.
