Godly3vil
Hey guys and gals, does anyone know where I can purchase distilled water from either locally (Invers) or over the internet? I want to make up some 4dkh solution.
alanmin4304
From a dehumidifier.
GrahamC
The manuals with dehumidifiers warn you that the water produced is not safe for drinking. What do you know that they don't?
alanmin4304
I know people that use that water for breeding fish that like soft water. Not much water is fit for drinking.
GrahamC
Interesting. Do they use it as is, or filter it ?
F15hguy
the problem with dehumidifier water is that is collects impurities out of the air, so if there is a smoker around, or you use bug spray then the water gets pretty toxic pretty quickly. Try an automotive supply shop, or a hydroponics supply shop. or go to a brewers barn and buy the gear to distil your own water. just remember that with purified water you lose all the good minerals as well. blueether
I have heard of it killing marine inverts/fish, I would guess from the copper used
Godly3vil
Its for a ph drop tester, so it doesn't matter what it would do to the fauna anyway as it will never come into contact with them.
Ira
A lot of bottled water claims to be distilled. Check the labels, and try one. Might be pure enough.

Godly3vil
Shouldn't distilled water not contain any ions? Distilled water should be 100% pure H2O.

Checked all the labels at the local pak n save and none of them seemed to be distilled, closest I could find was still water which is no better than the water out of the tap for my purposes. Hmm, I'm sure I've seen distilled at some point, but you're probably right, maybe most of what I'm thinking of is "Still" rather than "Distilled"
Asmodeus
I have seen distilled water for drinking in Countdown. Was in one of those big rectangular containers.
Zayne
why not ro-di water?
Godly3vil
why not ro-di water? Because every recipe I have read for 4dkh states I have to use distilled water.
blueether
From a dehumidifier.... Shouldn't distilled water not contain any ions? I was talking about water of this origin, not 'real' distilled water
alanmin4304
You should be able to get a small quantity from your local pharmacy.

F15hguy
Repco, over by the batteries Quite cheap too cosidering, and you probably only want small quantities
Jennifer
I get mine from the Warehouse, it is widely available for use in medical autoclaves. Everyone is right, it's not good for drinking and will kill fauna.
Godly3vil
Where in the warehouse would I find it Jen? In the automotive section?

Jennifer
Where in the warehouse would I find it Jen? In the automotive section? Er, it seems to change each time I go, usually near the other bottled water. I usually ask if I can't find it. My local New World has it as well. Godly3vil
Thanks Jen, found it yesterday in the bottled water section. Was lucky as it was the last one. Only cost $6 for 10ltrs so real happy with that. If anyone needs any 4dkh water for co2 drop checkers I have about 7ltrs made up but can make more, just pm me.
