  1. I got a red sea max 250 about a year ago but have not set her up, though I am getting the itch Yeah he's a great little fish, not shy at all and eats anything!
  2. Here's some updated pics, I have had to move some corals around as I was running out of room
  3. :cophot: Nice fishroom :spop:
  4. Its in the pipeline still
  5. Here's a few pics of my nano Its an aquastart 340 pro, so about 40L I have had it running for about 18 months or so. One yellowtail blue damsel and various corals
  6. Thats a point, I just checked my 4 way shut off valve and that seems to be faulty. I have had this before
  7. Just tested mine and it was 138 ppm out of the tap, out of my RO unit it is 9 ppm My discus still breed fine in tap water
  8. Cam, I am running 24 outlets from 70L a minute compressor There definately is room for more outlets but I would need something bigger to run 40.
  9. You are gonna need to go bigger than that for 40 outlets, 100+ litres a minute I will count how many outlets I am running for you later but mine is 70L a minute and I am pretty sure I am no where near the 40 outlets
  10. I cut them up with a blade from a stanley knife
  11. Hi Cam, I think it is recommended that you have it outside the room so the pump is always drawing clean air, although I have just got mine inside and have never had a problem
  12. Earthworms, start a worm farm, constant supply of live food Daphnia, get some of those going in a big container outside, they are smaller but the discus still take them you will also get more mossi larvae in the daphnia container
  13. A tds meter would be able to tell you the softness of your water If your ph just bounces back up after trying to lower it, it does mean there is too much buffering capacity in the water You could use a mixture of R/O water with your tap, if you have access to some Some marine keepers just use that Pure Dew water you can buy, it will do the trick Once you lower the buffering capacity the ph will definately be able to be lowered But you will have to monitor it as with no buffering and very soft water it is easy to have a crash
  14. Hi Kevin, you could always pop along to the next Tasman aquarium club meet, I know there are a few members with daphnia cultures
  15. 3x3 high with a sump under is getting pretty high. Depending on you tank heights you probably won't fit this in. Even 2 tier high with a sump under and you will be needing a stool to work in your tanks. And you probably need 4x2 on its edge to carry the load with verticals for strength. so you are gonna lose 300 between tanks for framing and work space. You could possibly get away with 3x2 but you will definately need verticals or you will get sagging along the shelves.
  16. Sounds quite good but I would just check how much it drops off with head height. 3m seems quite low for such a powerful pump.
  17. I am not a big fan of snails either I have read about all the benefits but still try and rid my tanks of them, generally not very successfully They also add to the bioload, so when you have thousands of them thats not so good
  18. Tank looks very nice, sorry to hear about the air pump and resulting deaths. Seems strange to happen so fast. Are you sure it was not something in the water from the water change?
  19. Mine get JBL Novo Bel Flake,Newly hatched brineshrimp, micro worms and my ox heart mix I make for my Discus
  20. You should be able to get aviverm from the pet shop
