David R
Check out somewhere like RD1 farm supply, they have big plastic water troughs, not that cheap tho.
Sheepsnana
I looked at pricing on the gutter-witch tanks today, the 650L tank is $470. I figured there had to be cheaper options available
ryanjury
I have an 8ft long container that is made with clear glass that would be ideal to house fish in.. It is not very wide/tall though.
jackp
could you use inflatable paddling pools?
JaSa
We had a temporary pool made out of hay bales stacked two high and in a round shape and put a silage cover in there. Hooked a wetback to it, big pile of wood and it was nice and warm after a day Worked very well but had to put a rope around so the water couldn't push the bales out. Silage covers 10x25m from RD1 for around $200. If you have a corner in a garage go square and a 5x50m cover will do & you can make it double- or tripple-layer + it's cheaper. Good luck, JaSa PS: Ring RD1, PGG and Farmlands and ask for returned 200l drums. They go for free or a few $$$ for the social club. Mostly just acid in there and after a good rins they are as new. smidey
RD1 has those big plastic tanks inside a galv steel frame, they are 1,000L and think are around $200. i think they are used to import colostrum into NZ for fonterra or something like that. David R
Sweet, presume you're talking about the Whangarei one? I was in there the other day looking at plastic containers (about two days before this thread) and didn't see them.
GrahamC
Do you mean an IBC or Intermediate bulk container? They're quite popular for aquaponic setups.

Called IBC's, you would have to cut the top out though, they also come in 500 and I think 1200l

F15hguy
few minutes with an angle grinder and your away, watch out tho cause they are used for chemical transport so they need a REALLY good wash out (and also watch your pH as many have been transporting industrial acid)
smidey
the one we got still had the bladder and a little colostrum in it.
JaSa
The are called Pallecon's and are around $300 to $400. Normally used @ the rural retailers to sell 1T of Mollases to farmers. Nor really good for milk or collostrum - can't clean them that well... JaSa
