SHRPLS
Hi Everyone. My name is James and I am developing a healthy addiction to tropical fish keeping Thought I would say hi as I keep reading just about everything I can trying to learn it all, haha:) I have a 90 litre (AR620) that has been set up for about 4 weeks now (almost cycled). It is only my second tank so I am still learning from my mistakes as I go along. I had a 30 litre tank prior with an internal filter that just kept killing all my fish. Sold that one and moved into something bigger and better. I have 6 Tiger Barbs, 1 Rainbow Shark and a Bristlenose Pleco in there for now. Will look into a couple of Striata Loaches when cycled. blueether
I don't think you can call it a "healthy addiction" especially the tropical addiction Welcome none the less

SHRPLS
I have just realised none of us has mentioned you will need a much bigger tank for that rainbow shark Oh really? They get to about 100mm-120mm? Is that right? What about my bristlenose?
Li@m
Hi and Welcome "Rainbow Sharks have a very aggressive nature and are known to be very territorial." Rainbow Shark Maximum Standard Length: Fully-grown at 6"/15cm. Minimum Tank Size: "We wouldn't recommend keeping one of these in a tank smaller than 48" x 18" x 18"/120cm x 45cm x 45cm/255 litres." heres the links: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Epalzeorhynchos&species=frenatum&id=234 http://e0.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=rainbowshark Your BN should be fine in that tank and will grow to about 12cm
Caryl
A bit bigger than that. Most sites I looked at said they are territorial and need at least 200L. The bristlenose will be fine.
SHRPLS
Thanks for the info guys. Funny how the LFS says "it will be fine in your tank". Anything for a sale huh. It chases my tigerbarbs out of its cave when they go exploring but other than that it seems to get along with them fine. It is only 60mm currently so will look at a new tank down the road a bit or perhaps find him a new home.
Caryl
You may have more problems with it as it grows
