How hard is it to install the servos + receiver and a cheap 2.4 Radio

If you buy the right one should just be plug and play..

Not sure on how good that would be for a beginner planes aren't my thing, but if you look at the list on the lhs of that page they sell radio gear too..

Yes that's a good one to start, high wing trainer. Get a min 6 channel radio, spektrum DX7 is relative cheap but stay away from dx6. http://www.parkflyers.org.nz is a good site to start. They will be pleased to buddybox you on one of their plane. There is another one at NS that will buddybox you onto a heli if you're keen to give it a go. I used to be a frequent flyer, lol. I wouldn't recomend that you fly on public park by yourself. If possible hook up someone (tips ..... rob/Jacko) from parkflyer, they will more than willing to help you out on your maiden best will be to maiden on a buddy box. Good luck :)

:smot: My ex had a RC car, plane and boat lol And he had tons of model aeroplanes hanging from the ceiling of his bedroom and his sleepout. He made the boat himself from scratch.

I ended up getting a RC VW Beetle while I was with him... I put most of it together by myself but had a little help lol I still have it but haven't used it for years.

Si, I've been using the keychain cameras you can buy on Ebay. The low res ones are $12 USD and the full HD ones are $50 USD. They are tiny and light - perfect for RC.

This is me flying a glider at Raglan, trying to keep a mate's plane in shot (harder than it sounds) with the HD camera onboard

This is the low-res version on-board my 3 meter glider at Raglan. Gets a bit misty as it goes on because of salt spray building up on the lens

Check out this thread if you want more info on the cameras :)

would these cameras be any good?

That's the sort I had mind. I did a weight test and my helicopter will take approx 30g and still fly normally.

There's several versions of those cams floating about on the web. Make sure you're getting the right one - check this thread:

Also, makes sure you get a fast enough micro-SD card, otherwise you'll get frame drops. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think class 6 or better is required - it'll be in that RCGroups thread somewhere :D

This was taken with that exact cam, try watching it at 720 res to get an idea of the quality.

:smot: - what does Devin look so worried about??

It was just before he started to get stroppy as he was hungry.

He has some interesting facial expressions sometimes.

That is good quality for such a cheap product.

I am wondering the point of me getting a camera now. It wont really show me much as the Helicopter I have is not big enough to go far

BTW, What is the location of that video?

True cheers. They take great footage for what they are eh.

The one on trademe seems a little different to the real one discussed on that forum.

Tm one appears to be missing the .MOV file format

and resolution numbers dont match up. Hmm

Is it on-board memory or does it come with a micro SD card? Avoid the low res ones with built in memory - they drop frames because the memory isn't fast enough to keep up with the video stream.

There's heaps of info on the low res ones here. You want the #3 version - most of the other ones are rubbish :(
