Massive storm to hit New Zealand

A massive storm is forecast to hit New Zealand tomorrow bringing heavy rain and snow to much of the country.

The weather bomb is the size of Australia - but likely to remain at least 1000 kilometres south of New Zealand.

However its tentacles are still expected to bring winds strong enough to down trees, power lines and damaged or unstable roofing.

MetService's Gerard Barrow is warning heavy ocean swells of up to seven metres are also expected off the western coasts of both islands.

Blustery winds will affect the entire North Island with severe westerly gales likely about Wellington and Wairarapa.

So basically the weather is going to be the same as it's been almost every day for the last 6 months.

I have never driven through rain like we got today around 4pm in Palmy. Literally every car had pulled over to the side of the road because we just couldn't see anything.

I have, when i was about 18 in my silly honda with low profiles etc. There was no slowing me down, aquaplane all the way, the x missus will never forget that drip, i mean trip. I though it was a great test lmao
