Jennifer
Wow, that is excellent! I really like your pictures and the interpretation of your findings. I have always loved streams but I really have a new appreciation for the flora and fauna now that I have been on the forums...I know have some incentive to go snooping around my local areas! Cheers! A-town...
the aponegeton that is the legal variety aye? they sell it in auckland for $20-$30 if it is
alanmin4304
Aponogeton distachyus is legal (as far as I can tell) but is not usually sold in the shops as it prefers cooler water and only has floating leaves so all you see in an aquarium is the stalks. The ones sold are usually undulatus or crispus.
supasi
the aponegeton that is the legal variety aye? they sell it in auckland for $20-$30 if it is  Yes it is legal. It grows everywhere down here. Its common name is Water Hawthorn. As Alan said, it only grows floating leaves so no good in aquariums unless you want to look at stalks.I have some growing in my pond. The flower can be eaten too.
