FreedingFrenzy
I have 4 different types of schooling fish but ideally I'd like only two or even one type. The four I have right now are: Zebra Danios - which seem to have the best character Glowlight Tetra - which are big and seem to rule the roost a bit Neon Tetra - which are bright and colourful, and Black Widow Tetras - which are big and quite pretty But I only want one or two types... I just don't know which to keep... Can you guys please help me decide? Which do you like most from personal experience? Thanks!
Foxjxa
I like my glowlights, mine are pretty chilled and laid back, and they're more interesting than I first thought. They're definately a must-have for my community tank(s). I don't know what the others are like to keep, sorry. Have fun choosing!
Ira
I say keep the black widows and the glowlights.
Slightly Blue Dalmation
ditch the danios and maybe glowlights or neons depending on what other colours are in the tank, what else is in with them?
Heir
Danios! woohoo! That is all.
FreedingFrenzy
With them are: Blue Gourami, Swordtails (Orange), Clown Loaches, Rainbow Shark, Peppered Cory and SAE
Cheesejawa
Neons and Danios, would be my choice Although they are the most common of the four they are interesting IMO Danios and fast and have character. Neons are very colourful and look great in massive schools.
Slightly Blue Dalmation
keep widows, ditch rest and get cardinals haha they good compromise to neons and glowlights look like neons but better haha
Foxglove
I'm not a fan of the widows - they pick on each other and other fish in my experience. I have had both glowlights and neons schooling together in the work tank - looked great!
Neon
Yeah, I have neons and glowlights together too and they look great. Mine are about the same size and I like how they are exactly the same shape but different colours. So that's my recommendation
FreedingFrenzy
Yeah, I've been watching my tank today and I have noticed how the neons and glowlights school together occasionally... I'll miss my Danios if I choose the two neons though.. Oh decisions
Dixon1990
Keep it south american and let the danios move to another home
Neon
You could get another small tank for the danios  I'm on my 3rd tank and I'm still checking out the auction site daily for more tanks
FreedingFrenzy
My parents would kill me  they are happy that  I've got one tank but I think if I pushed for any more I would be in trouble..
Dixon1990
They'll get over it,My parents did when i went from 1 tank to around 10
tHEcONCH
Ditch them all and replace them with Cardinals. A bit 'old hat', but still the best looking schooling fish around.
FreedingFrenzy
Okay... I've narrowed it down to three ... Neons, Glowlights and Danios... Help? I really like the danios but I understand what people are saying when they say that the tetras are a lot prettier and nicer...
DutchKiwiCowboy2
I did some research on several types of tetra's last week because I set up a new tank and needed something to go with my tiger barbs. My recomendation would be to google each type, go to 3 sites of each and note down all the pro's and con's of each, narrow it down to fit to what YOU as a aquarist are trying to achieve. Then go with your gut feeling. As for trying for another tank, get your parents involved (Mum might be easiest) Work on the guilt feeling that getting rid fish is stressful for them and not the best for their health... and so on.
