  1. This is a great thread. Thanks for sharing! :nfs:
  2. Haha that's hilarious.
  3. Sweet. Thanks for the link. Heaps of people on Poultry Central are after this!
  4. Especially water conditioners. It should say on the back if you can use it with crustaceans but some don't say at all. You don't need conditioners really.
  5. Smaller is better to start with IMO Make sure he has loads of hiding places. Remember not to use any additives in the tank!
  6. Oh no! I will keep my ear on the ground too!
  7. Looks like you had fun with the Eel... lucky you.. lol not
  8. Or just shoot the dog ? Clearly I'm not chicken bias 8)
  9. Heir

    Hey Sam!

I'm not good at making these (clearly) but I had a go with pics of my two cats Zyzyx and Hylton
  10. Here's mine! Just a photo of my farm! lol
  11. You've pretty much summed them all up. There are a few siskin species in NZ but most of them require warmer climates and are very expensive with very few people breeding them. I had a complete last years census of all the finches in NZ from the Finches Breeders Society (of members, there are others) but I have misplaced it? There are quite a few species with very few registered. It is very surprising how many finches are actually in NZ that you never see on TM or in Petshops. Very surprising!
  12. I know right It took me 1/2 an hour to find that, and they suck! Apparently nobody really cares about Ginger Bristle flies??
  13. Ginger Bristle Fly http://www.gmpl.co.nz/image-search/1/ginger-bristle-fly/ Their photos suck but same thing.
  14. Disagree. Different family. I'd say it's a relative of Adejeania vexatrix http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adejeania_vexatrix Though it wouldn't be one, as we don't have them here?
  15. I love Redpolls. Unfortunately they are more common in the South Island and to be honest I don't think I've seen them in Tauranga? It's a shame you don't live locally there is a shop here that almost always have Goldfinches for sale and they're usually about $6 each from memory. They did have Yellow Hammers awhile back, which are one of my favourites, but haven't had them since. I went to the Pukekohe Bird Sale last year (I think it was in Pukekohe? or Drury? Dunno) and you could buy any European Finch you wanted at very reasonable prices! I was very excited!! But I don't have an aviary... the 10 different breeds of chickens I keep are enough birds for me I think... lol I atleast want photos of the new Chaffinches.
  16. What's the calcium level in the pellets? Layer pellets usually have fairly high levels of calcium used up by full-time egg laying machine hens, you can have complications if you feed layer pellets to birds which wouldn't use up all the calcium and cause kidney damage. Just a something to look out for? I know nothing about Turks so perhaps all the calcium is fine... Do you have a thread of pics of all your finches? I love European Finches they're my favourite - I'd love to see pics 8)
  17. That's funny. You think he would of learned on the first day that perhaps he needed to wear more padding and thinker boots...
  18. 'Coz I do!! 8) "Ferrets on crack" (the woman looks a bit scary) I love the uploaders comments: "You do not want a pet African clawless otter. Get a ferret." :dead%fish <---- BTW, how is this a dead fish?
  19. Awesome pics!! They look well kept unlike the ones I saw last year in Bali... :tears: Yowies? I remember them too, I collected them. I found this bulk lot of them on TM for $1 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Antiques-colle ... 447149.htm They're actually all quite realistic looking in comparison to some tacky toys you can get.
  20. I think you mean ESPECIALLY those little designer handbag mutts!! :bounce:
