    New addition

Another thought, too much light in a low nutrient tank is no good for coral. so i think 400w is over kill, spead of light is more important, many tanks with 150w that have plenty of colours and nice growth.

So if you have a bigger skimmer then it will remove bacteria quicker so you will also remove po4 as it is attached to the bacteria, However if your skimmer was too big them will it not remove the bacteria too quick so it will not reproduce fast enough to remove po4?

i dont beleive that a skimmer will remove all po4, so if i dont pump any water to my skimmwer and leave it running for a few days the po4 should be zero.? I thought a skimmer removes waste before it can turn to po4

what corals are you keeping? if sps then below .03ppm. nitrate below 5ppm

    Phosphates

Not matter how big your skimmer it will not remove all po4. I doubt there is another way to remove po4 effectively as iron po4 remover or I would be using something else. I really battle to keep it down below .02ppm. reduce my fish numbers and then no problems, but what fun would that be.

Just wanted to see the tank to see what else can be done, I would say you nitrate would also be quite high.

10ppm. at that rate you will have to change water and get it down to a acceptable amount, Then add a po4 remover. Main problem with iron po4 removers is that they also remove organics thus cleaning your water, which is a good thing however you corals get nuked from the extra light they get once the water has cleared. also make sure that you add buffer to the water as they also tend to drop kh . pretty hard to keep po4 down if you have a high tank load like me, so po4 removers are the way to go.

I would not be adding anything at this stage, new tank normally gets algae. Rome was not built in a day.
