    Big Blue Fish

Yes most angels will pick, however in a large reef tank I think you have a better chance as there is so many corals and space that they won’t pick on one coral all the time. So far my Navarchus has been fine as he has not picked on much, however since putting him in my reef tank about 5 months ago he has grown quite a lot so I suspect he might have to come out as he might get more adventurous and take out a few clams and brains. Amazing how big he has grown, from about a 50cent size to almost 120mm in 12 months. Check out Mr Frog fish. Needs live food. Loves his Chromis meals. Problems Catching angels? put him in the tank and he will do the job for you with pleasure.
  7. You have quit a few options. get can get a Deltec hang on skimmer or a small internal skimmer.

    Big Blue Fish

Nice fish, but they will wipe out you corals , especially in a small reef tank. better suited to a fish only or very large reef tank. Those LPS look very yummy.

    new camera time!

I own a cannon 350D and a olympus 5050. the cannon takes good photos however i can get just as good photos with the olympus. The SLR is cheap to buy but to get good lenses it cost quite a lot. If i was to get another camera it would be the olympus 8080 which is a great camera with very good reviews. For most of us that is all you will need. i want to try the Olympus Stylus 720 SW Digital mju 720 Waterproof as it can be used under water, however the ratings are average.
  12. Looking nice and clean. like the green mili
  13. you need to filter your water with and di unit or ro. Tap water contains a lot of nutrients so when you add it to the tank you get algae.
  14. do you filter your fresh water before mixing salt. what filter do you use.?
  15. do you use NSW or ASW?

    Reefs Reef Tank

    rest of the family.
  17. you dont need glass, however get some water on them and they will end up in the tank.
  18. You should get a big spread of light with the big reflectors. Corals to tend to look better with a bit of blue, however whilst the arcadia bulbs are more white you do tend to get better growth but the corals look more washed out, The narva 14k bulbs are really weak so you dont get great growth, they tend to have a low par rating. so there is always a trade off between looks and growth. Found 400w bulbs are not that bright as i still have to run 8 x t5s. might try the iwasaki 6500k, but that would mean changing to mercury vapor ballast. i still think 250w De bulbs are almost as bright as a SE 400w. Are you running any glass covers?? pretty risky without them.
  19. Not worth the risk for me as i have feather dusters . Was going to try a declivis or tinkers butterfly but i think they will hammer my brain corals. Might try a big longnose butterfly( longirostris) if i can ever find one. very hard to get for some reson.

    HELP flat worms???

got any better ideas how to treat fish fee.??
  22. It all depend what you are going to keep. Generally 150/250w halides are more than enough. Most european hobbyist are starting to use only t5s as you can keep all corals under this light. T5s gives a more even lighting vs metal halide which is bright under the halide however light drops quite a lot once you move away from the centre. only thing i dont like about t5s is that you dont get glitter lines in the water. It can come down to moneys as good looking lights cost money.
