  1. Check out the video. The lighting looks very bright and better than leds. http://news.cnet.com/1606-2-6234653.html
  2. One thing I would suggest is if you have issue with service etc then write a letter to the owner. If the owner does not know about it then how can things improve, and I am sure they will be interested and will listen. Staffing is a major problem with pets stores as it is not a well paid job and if you get good staff they tend to move on to bigger and better things due to getting paid far better in other industries.

    AUTO TOP OFF

Tunze units are good, why take the risk to save a few dollars by going cheap. They are nice and simple and also have a 2nd level to warn you if the water level is too high, saved my tank on numerous occasions. plus the Tunze units are supported in NZ.
  4. Just seen the pricing on the news, What a rip off, all hype created by Vodaphone over nothing.
  5. For fresh water it is proposed to reduce to 3 weeks, but that is what they said 3 years ago. still waiting, maybe not in my life time the way they work. I doubt cost will drop due to the reduction to 3 weeks as MAf keep coming up with new costs and the hourly rate is set to increase again,
  6. Whos getting the updated iphone.? cheap at $199, i quess the 2 year package will be expensive.
  7. Pretty mush so, everything is going up and what goes up never comes down , especially airfreight and MAf/customs which charge like a wounded bull on heat for doing nothing. Many of the airlines offer cheap prices for passengers but the passengers pay for it anyway as freight on commercial items get charged at a rip off rate. And You wonder why we have a inflation problem. The end user pays for it.
  8. Wonder why so many pet shops go bust thinking the same thing. It is not like PC parts that you turn over by the thousands. Marks up/Margins vary depending in what industry you are in. a 5% mark up in the pet industry will give you 2 weeks before you close the doors.
  9. Very common problem with Anemoes. They go to places that you dont want them too. , Most will recover if they are not to badly damaged, Also if they do get in pumps dont pull them out as you will damaged them more, just turn the pump off and they will move from the pump.
  10. I just did a search on the 9600gt card and most say the 8800gt is a far better card.

  12. Only two specialist shops in Auckland now that have the best range and that is Hollywoods in Mt Roskill or Albany. Jansens used to be great many years ago but now they are more interested in selling dog food and pets. Much better margins and lower risk.
  13. Its a hard choice as so many brand/models. Have used ibm/acers for over 20 years at work and never had a problem with any of the laptops. If i was to get a laptop what should i get in it? any special things that could be useful?? tv turner etc Looking to maybe get a desktop and a laptop.
  14. Looking for a laptop., but so many models. Need advise, do we have any experts. Looking to spend about $2000-$3000k. Was looking at thinkPad R61 C2D T8300 2.4GHz 2GB 250GB NVQuadro BlueRayRW BT FP 15.4" VB (8918A25)
  15. Thats the best idea, as they can only improve the service in the future if you give feedback.
  16. Sorry about the seahorse, Just keep up with good water conditions, Pointless treating if fish not sick as it can cause problems.
  17. Good question. I find most of the time treating fish is a waste of time as the success rate is not that high. From my disease book. The seahorses main disease might be Costia a parastic skim infection followed by secondary bactrial infection. Fish exhibit the following symptoms, dark colouration, increased mucus buildup, turbidity of the skin, loss of scales, reduced appetite and fin rot, treatment is with formalddehyde/malachite green or formaldehyde/copper.
  18. Bactarial problem, common in seahorses.

    Hair algae

Mix up some saltwater turn all the pumps off . brush the algae off the rocks etc. then let it settle and suck it out with a hose. then put in some new water and start pumps.
  21. I would cycle the sand as well, you only need about 1 inch of sand. This way the bactaria will grow on the sand and once cycles i would do a water change and clean some of the sand with a gravel cleaner.

    Hair algae

Tangs might eat it if you dont have much. If you have it on the back panel then brush it off.
  23. so i suspect buying water from supermarkets will be far to expensive, Get a good ro/di unit and be done with it , might cost you $400-$500 ,

    Hair algae

Here is a photo of a mushroom rock covered in hair algae, It amazes me how after a few days it will be totally cleared by the tangs who just love it as a treat. Most tangs wont eat hair algae if your tank is covered in it, but as a treat they seems to go crazy on it,
  25. What size tank are you looking at?
