  1. They should have spawned by now. They in with tropheus?
  2. Lol yes I am proud. Just let them be and they will breed.
  3. Nice! Have you had them for a long time? Spawned them yet?
  4. Keeper of bloating fish? I dont get the coded message.
  5. I like seeing other peoples fish and love to see some Altos, I will go first and share some of mine. Please excuse the quality Gold Heads Red Fins These fish are still young have have some more growing to do. But looking really good, i have been told that the fins will get more red as they get older. Sub dominant male Dominant male Getting ready to spawn Lets go Nav!!!!
  6. Hey FF They best thing to do is let them settle down for some time and get some pictures in order to ID them properly. Once he is fully coloured i will hunt around to see if i can help but the best way to trace the fish would be to find out who the breeder is. In NZ its hard to get the correct fish. The supplier/Store may call them one name but they are something completely different. Its hard being in New Zealand and get quality fish.
  7. It's going to be hard to say what it is till they colour up. Would be easier in a month or so. Its not A Hueseri, because of number of bars/the way they look, then the egg spots.
  8. Good stuff man. Keep it going  Some of those females have spawned before so who knows she may just do it for u
  9. EDIT: I removed the link as when I clicked on it there was nothing to do with fish (or being single) and every time I clicked on it I got a list of different videos so I think you may have put the wrong one there :dunno: . - Caryl
  10. I don’t want to start an argument here. But people overseas use Omega one successfully for Tropheus. If I could get hold of it I would feed it to mine There are many things that trigger bloat and food is one of them. Stopping one food completely and giving them something completely different will trigger bloat. Bloat is just a blockage in their digestive system ( to simply put it ). And since we don’t have clout or Metro in NZ its really hard to treat with other medications. I would recommend that you increase the water temperature upto 28 and then treat them with Salt 1 Table Spoon/40L . Do daily water changes of about 25% and top up the salt when adding new water. Do a complete gravel vac every time you change water. Do this for 7-10 days. If you see any redness or the conditions getting worse treat with Furan 2. Also don’t feed during this period. I hope this works out for you.
  11. Great looking tank mate
  12. Omega one veggie flakes should be fine for tropheus.
  13. Your comps are big, can't wait for mine Mine are small at about 55-70mm. I don’t have any “black fins” aka ink fin calvus? Red fins are going well but too many males in my group. Only now I can see the red fins coming through and looks nice. Get some pictures up nav.. And other stuff you have. Any peacocks?
  14. Thanks Nav. How are your goldheads? Getting the mask yet?
  15. Nooooo not that ad!!!! Lol
  16. Clearly that wasn't what I was asking.
  17. Not a Peacock but a looker...Altolamprologus Compressiceps Gold Head
  18. Can we get omega one in nz? Ya NLS is great stuff.
  19. The all male tank( 400l ) just has all the excess males from my breeding stock. But this is not the ideal way to do it, but if my wife lets me get a display tank then i will consider the colours etc. All the larger males seem to be coloured and some of the smaller males are somwhat coloured. This is a great article http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/all-male_malawi.php
  20. He is nice but aggressive. That particular male almost killed 2 of the females :an!gry. Thats why he is in the all male tank and his brother is having all the fun!
  21. Thanks all Like I said Albino Rubys are really nice and my favorite peacock followed closely by Eureka red. Hoping to get a good picture of those sometime soon but the male hides as soon as he sees the camera. Yes they are Redtop Luwanda. That’s a picture from my all male tank. I do remember seeing something like them at a pet shop in CHCH but then again a lot of things have come into NZ at some point in time and have died off.
  22. Still looking for OB peacocks. Prefer not to get the line with a lot of pink/orange but if that’s what you have I will take them.
