  1. Thanks I am 99.9% sure its a female. I have vented the 'female' and its in with a male and hasn't lost colour, that male just dominates any other male put into the tank.. :sml1:
  2. I have some for people that are willing and able to look after them. They are Flemis Giant x Tan Rabbits. Very very friendly and are about 8 Weeks old. There are a variety of colours eg: Black, Brown, Grey and some mixed colours. If you are interested please send me a PM.
  3. I just rinse in hot water and the just into the tank.
  4. Thats a normal bristlenost mate. People should stop calling things something different when they are not. You should get in contact with the seller and correct him. If you paid too much try and get something back.
  5. Here are some articles on different red peacocks. http://www.cichlidgallery.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=150:rubescens-and-other-red-peacocks-from-germany&catid=42:articles&Itemid=112 http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/red_peacocks.php
  6. Thanks This line is from Germany and its ment to be a line bred version of Aulonocara sp. "Stuartgranti Chipoka". They sell them as 'super red ruby reds'. When i got them they were almost yellow/orange but with time they get more red. All females show red but varies with each female.
  7. We have one more....sweet Yea the rest are calvus
  8. Do we have any comps other than red fins or gold heads?
  9. When I spawned them years ago they were by themselves. But now with different peacocks for spawning purposes. Nice altos Ryan  should come see you for calvus
  10. You need to make a small key size hole enough for female then with pot turned down. Easy to extract fry.
  11. Thanks The altos act alot different when they are about to spawn. They mellow out alot and are not aggressive. Try and get different size shells so that they have a vreiety to choose from. They are picky when it comes to shells, if that doesn't work try using a pot.
  12. I would agree with you about females spending time in/around shells. Males just tend to just swim around from structure to structure. When the female is ‘ripe’ the male will give more attention to the female. From the picture it doesn’t seem like the female is full of eggs yet, they tend to fill up really quickly from nothing to ‘ripe’ within 7-10 days – with the correct food. My comps have spawned.
  13. Ow rite. I introduced them to the red fins about 1 month ago aswell
  14. what ryan said. I was saying no to seperating out the holding females away from the colony into their own tank
  15. i know eddie. We are connected by comps aswell Did you just start introducing shells?
  16. My suggestion would be to let the females hold to term for the first couple of times. So that she learns what to do. If you were to strip now they would always expect you to stip and then maybe just swallow or eat the eggs. Also try not to remove the females like ryan said, it makes things complicated when you want to add them back into the colony. Things may go wrong, but given that they are duboisi it wouldn't be that bad but why take a chance? I usually stip after 2 weeks but longer you wait the lower number of fry you will get but they will be stronger and better. When it comes to tropheus take it easy and don't complicate things. They are alot hardier than what people think
  17. Very different looking comps but NICE Zeusterae Had them long? Any breeding action? Sorry to hear about your comps Nav. I love bloaters
  18. I have been told that power glow is good but havn't personally tried it since I don't have a display tank yet!!
