yep, learned that one too :oops: -read, read, and read as much as you can on fishkeeping and on different fishies you are interested in because the people selling them DO NOT know everything - keeping in with the one above...do this BEFORE you buy that tank - no such thing as because I'm new to this hobby "I only need a small tank" - the importance of joining a fish forum and learning from those with experience -just because fishies are "supposed" to be compatable - doesn't mean they are!

Sounds similar to what I use...gets the stuff off the glass no problems! I did buy one of the magnetic scrapers, quite awhile ago now, and it's still in the package, always sayin' I'm going to try it :oops: Caper

What does the time of day have to do with the oxygen levels???? So, approximately, how long (with the power off) before the bacteria dies in hang ons? Caper

Is that all that needs to be done, cut back on the feeding??? Will that eradicate the worms?

Way back when one of my goldies went blind, I couldn't find anything on the net about fish/blind. But I agree, since the eyes are gone that it would appear that something or someone (meaning puttytat) injured the eye. My goldfish Sam, never did find out what happened to him. He still has his eyes and they look the same as they always did. I don't remember how long I had him before the blindness came about. The only reason I knew he was blind was when I was feeding them and he obviously could NOT see the food, which he did before!

Oh...sooo much to learn...and what little I did know, forgot!!!!! Cichlids and plants are a no no?????

Hi all! Long time since I've been here...missed you all! There were some "stuff" going on in my life and I just went awall for awhile. Doesn't mean I wasn't thinking about you all though Let's see where to begin: still have 3 tanks set up...didn't get the 55 gallon set up as yet! I've lost quite a few fish since I've been here last, no recognizable reasons as to why, the majority in one tank. The saddest thing that has happened is I lost my precious cat Puffball. I took loosing him quite bad. He was my best friend and the one living creature that was ALWAYS there for me. I have 2 new cats but my heart still aches for Puffball. After I lost Puffball, lost interest in the fishies. Now, don't get me wrong, I still took care of them but for some reason I just did what I had to do and that was it, no interest other than to keep them alive of course. Interest is starting to come back slowly though. I have a new job. Working at an accounting office. The only thing is its about a 20-25 minute drive...not long you say...but the last job was only 2 blocks away I'm going to Calgary in 4 weeks time...if you recall, Tracy is expecting her first baby.
