Will a pH that is too high cause this?

I was just wondering how you would know which one was responsible if you did the 2 at the same time. Caryl's idea sounds good. I didn't know that driftwood really could do anything to your tank other than the tannin thingy. Is it new driftwood?

Thanks all This is the tank that I took the airstone out of because I thought it was too strong :-? This tank has the bigger filter than my other 29 gallon and I haven't seen film in that tank, at least that I haven't noticed any so far. So, wouldn't you think then that the bigger filter would cause enough surface movement?????? Maybe I'll cut back a bit on the feeding too to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks Caryl Well, I'll keep this up then because that is true, although still not up to par, he was able to get off the filter himself. Heh, how did you do this, I've been watching for you & missed you obviously :-?

I know they can get bigger but gee I think 7" & 5" is big :lol:

Hi meshelley! I like your stand Very nice job. You are lucky to have so many fishies to choose from, we don't get many different kinds here Plants, I only have artificial too chicken to try to the real ones 8) What do you have in your other tank that you are selling?

There's nothing I can see on him and the only thing noticable with him thus far is clamped fins. Tuesday when I came home from work, he was "stuck" to the filter. I tried to get him with the net and once I "dislodged" him he swam away. However, he was not himself and his swimming wasn't...ah, strong so to speak. I kept an eye on him (me and another platy ) and sure enough as soon as he got close to the filter, sucked on Now, I still don't have another tank yet because I've decided to get a bigger one for my goldies and then turn the 10 gallon into a hospital/quarantine tank. Only problem is haven't figured out where the heck I can put it :-? Sorry, back to the platy. I ran, ok actually drove to WalMart and bought a breeding trap and after a good rinse put it in the tank and added the platy. Now, I don't know if this was a good idea or not, didn't know if it's just going to stress him more but I thought it was worth a chance to see if he could get his strength back (and I'm dosing with Melafix). Anyway, he got out on me before so I waited to see how he'd do. His swimming is a bit stronger but still not up to par and once he did get sucked by the filter but was able to get himself off quickly. So, I put him back in the trap. Because I don't know how long he was on the filter the day I got home from work, the fact that he was does this mean there is no hope for him? Am I doing the right thing by keeping him there? All opinions...help...guidance...would be appreciated, as usual

I'm sure in your reading you've come across the icky "Ick" *how duh* :-? , so just wondering if there's a possibilty its that??? You get lots of help here...people always eager to help! That is soooooo cute :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: My cat couldn't care less about the fishies, the odd time I'll hold by a tank and he seems interested for a couple of seconds and that is it! I even have a chair, that he used to like until I moved it, by one of my tanks but he still doesn't care
