  1. I use blades salvaged from used BIC razors, and use the hanld, trimmed down to push it thru the glue. Alan NZKA 104
  2. Where is the thermostat sensor? And is that last statement a selling blurb on the box or is it factual, if so, where do you find that info?? Alan NZKA 104
  3. Hey Mystic, it won't be until I'm in my box that I am out of the NZKA. Don't let me, not being a figure head, let that form an opinion of the NZKA. Make no mistake about it, there are about 33 great members, as far as I'm concerned, in the club. I even had one write to me yesterday, and say that they don't have killies but stay in it to help support the club in it's promotion of a very diverse type of fish and it's endeavours to import them into NZ for the hobby. I have likened myself as a parachute, ready to be opened if the need arises, for the NZKA. So do you and Steve want that rego form sent?? You get better quickly, ok. Alan NZKA104

    lagos babies

Good one Marty That'sone of the species we have going then. I have 12 baby striatum and 7 P82's with three more eggs to hatch. So that's the three species. How are yours going Stu?? Alan NZKA 104
  6. In my opinion, salt does not kill ich, it may promote the slime growth on the fish. But if it killed ich, why do they get it in a SW tank??
  7. simfish Why did you import it from overseas when I think you coud have got a bucket full for that price at a hydroponic outlet? Alan NZKA 104
  8. I must state here that what EJ and myself did to obtain and organise the fish for the club was out of line as ALL the com. were not involved. Unconstitutional, but time and speed were the essence in my opinion. I admitted that this was an error of judgement, but THEY didn't want a bar of it. Things just got worsre from then on. Caryl, as a I read the last paragraph of your post, a wry smile creases my face. mmmmmm Alan NZKA 104
  9. Make a point of it here Mitch, thanks too for you support, awsome. Yes those fish, or some of them have increased their numbers, and yes members will be able to obtain some once we get the numbers up. But guess what, not ALL members will be getting Xmas cards from this area, or young fish. Alan 104
  10. I have replied to Billany, thanks for asking. It is really an internal matter of the NZKA KK I signed up three that night, and I'm waiting for Nick to send in his rego form and the fee, then thaat will be four. Kewl. I'll still be around to offer help where I can. I really enjoyed talking to the Waikato AS that Sunday evening. No use having lived a fishy life without sharing it Jude, part of the enjoyment of it, the hobby. Thanks Wok, appreciated your email too. I'd like to thank those NZKA members who have rung me and also those of you who have emailed me and offered their support. It has been a great up-lift for me. Ta Alan for ever NZKA 104
  11. Wadda ya mean Wok ALL killies are beautiful Some are better than others tho. Alan 104
  12. Set up the heater so as it is at an angle and the heated water not rising over the thermosat area. Or/and put an airstone underneath the heating coil. Alan 104
  13. Tooooooooooo hi for you Wok Alan 104

    dwarf cichlids

I agree with you Grizzly about the appearance of the 'golds'. Another example of man's ineptitude at altering something that didn't need changing. Also there is a cost factor too. Why pay out good $$$ for deformed fish. I vote for the Blues. They are cheaper that your other choices too. By the way. That's not the Auck. rugger team either. Alan 104
  15. Golf courses are a good place to look. I use to go to the Remuera GC come in from off Ladies Mile. Ellerslie. Go at daybreak so as you don't get caught. Alan 104
  16. Staruth!! How much?? That was miles too much to pay!!! NOT They were definately wrongly priced. What shop was it?? I want to visit that one. I might pick up some bargains. How big were they when you got them? I would have got six of them, it almost makes your percentage of getting a pair 100%. But at that price I would have got the whole tank full. How are you sexing your Festivum male? Have you got a pair from the three you got?? Alan 104
  17. Now all you need is new tubes. As alanmin says, those looked stuffed. Fluros DO have earth connections, they also have metal bodies, that can carry stray power. So make sure the earth connections are tight. You are working near water remember. Alan 104
  18. That has a flow on effect too. More money to spend on fish!! Yaaaaaaa Alan 104

Welcome Herc, I see you have an NZ native in your list, the Crans Bully, do you have that in a special tank or what?? Alan 104
  20. Pinsara It helps a lot if you fill in your profile with where you are from. Thanks. Alan 104
  21. Hey Luke!! Must say it was worth doing that. Yummy Alan 104
  22. Oh MATE, wouldn't they let you foto?? Alan 104
  23. OK, that was about when I started my long association with the NZKA Alan 104
  24. Luke, you have the red cross syndrome with your pic. Alan 104
  25. alanmin4304 I was just wondering if you were ever in the NZKA those "many" years ago. If so, what was your number?? Alan 104
