Not only that, but they are a schooling fish and can grow to 76cm. Looks like another of those fish that shouldn't be permited in the aquarium trade. Hope you have plans for a BIG tank. And with those fish getting chewed up, maybe they'll be acute now. :roll:

Sounds a little suss. How big are the killies. Some could behave like that, but I have only seen that behaviour amongst others of their kind. Sorry to hear about the loss of your fish too.

Can't see how that's gunna work Spider. You have to kill the parasites as they move back from hatching on the bottom and heading out to find a host fish. If they aren't killed at this point, it just means you get a heap more reinfestations, and they really multipy out, final result. Death, and that goes for all the fish too. I'd go for a separate tank to treat the clowns, because they have to have less medication, cause they are susceptable to the chemicals. Then dose the tank according to instructions. I do agree with raising temperature, gravel vac, and water changes, but the meds have to be used. If you got away with it Spider, you were lucky IMO.

Put an armful of oxy weed in there for them. They will munch out happily on that and it wont pollute the tank. Have a good break.

If you put a divider in the "hatching tank" you may get away with it. The divider will have to be "baby-proof", which means REAL tight fitting. But if you want, you could also hatch both lots without parents and raise the babies if you are successful, with one another.

Notify the clubs at both ends. Most times you can find a few helpfuls. A few beers don't go astray either. But instead of 4x2's, use old seat-belts salvaged from wrecked cars. You can twist them around your hand, with no fear of them slipping. What is the footprint measurements. I have handled a 6'er on my own just using saw horses and a piece of carpet to slide it on. Steps? A couple of 4x2's to form a ramp, and ditto onto the trailer.

Barley straw was used for the control of Waternet. They expected the waterways and lakes to get completely stuffed by it. Ever heard of it?? Haven't heard of it myself for years. The birdlife in the Matata lagoon, were very partial to roosting on the bales pegged out in the lagoon for the above reason.

Yep, those are the first of my babies to be sold on. All I've had all weekend from the NZKA members that dropped in and oooowwd and aaahhhhaaad at them. I had to rescue them from M&D as I think they are ready to spawn again, and of course the first reaction is to kill/eat the babies. I lost one, but thankfully I was there when the male started on them. Didn't take you long to get a pic up Rogan, you proud little fella.

Hi MissAngel, If you wont to have a succcessful spawning you will definatly need to set them up in a seperate tank, only a 30lt tank is required. This is what I would do.... Place in the spawning tank a heater, a thin layer of gravel or marbles, 100mm of water from the tank they're in now, a bubbler and a clump of spawning moss or spawning mops if you don't have the moss. Set the heater 3 to 5oC below there present temp but not less than 20oC and let the tank stablise for a couple of days. Place a pair or trio(2males to 1 female) in the tank 2 or 3 hours before sun down, they should spawn the next morning with just a little luck. Please note as the tank has just been set up DON'T feed the adults whilel in the spawning set up. If you can see that they have spawned, remove the adults, if your unsure remove them the afternoon of the next day. Make sure you have food ready to feed the fry, they will eat green water, well, what its in it, and the liquid on top of a microworm culture ( this contains baby worms and yeast ). Good luck

Make sure the tanks are clean prior to feeding them some micro worms. Strained small mozzie larvae or mozzie egg rafts, and same as above with the java moss.

Have they got a black spot on their dorsal? If so those are prolly Blue Panchax Those gold ones pictured above are Aplocheilus Lineatus, and the "tiger" ones are the natural colours, referred to as Striped lineatus, not tiger.
