Depends how big ya hand is doesn't it? Let's get specific. I use one teaspoon of rocksalt, not iodised, per gallon. WorK that out for a ten gallon tank. About a handful? Don't forget that every gallon you take out, to replace the equivelent salt. BUT any water that is being used to replace evaporation doesn't have salt. Alan

Welcome to the pond of fishie people. Good ta see ya want to learn before you jump in the deep end. Where are you from, then we may be able to point you in the direction of some locals to also help guide you. Some of us even have fish, plants, gravel, tanks, oh? Did I mention fish? Lot cheaper than at LFS's too. Occasionally they do come in handy tho, the LFS's that is. Alan

Andyman said I have heard this often, and completely disagree with it. If the tank was to sit there, no water changes, then MAYBE I could go along with it. But due to the fact, any build up from the lead oxidizing is negated by water changes. If there is any reason to worry about lead implants in the log, the implants could be sealed. Alan

Ppl with the knowledge of fish keeping, would not use RAW tap water, some will use chemicals to rid it of chlorine. I for one, often do 50% or more water changes, BUT, using water that has been standing after being squirted into the container , for at least three days, often over a week. Most of these changes this size, is done on my baby tanks or containers. If the fish are use to this, they will not react. Alan

Hi Lyn, goldfish can take water warmth the same as tropicals, although it does shorten their life apparently. Those kissers are prolly wot they call Balloon Kissing Gouramis. Chat-room? We was there but there was a couple of footy games on too. We are normally in there about 9.00 most evenings. Stars? Post like heck, answer questions and ask them. I had a large swordtail that dropped heaps I got to 200 counting, and gave up. Doesn't happen all the time tho, and she was a BIG mumma. Alan

how have you been treating it? have you been using any of the dye medications? ie. malachite green or Methylene blue? If so get it out of the stuff, they are allergic to it, and can die from it's use. Alan

Try using that link and go to M. s. rubrostriata. Ditto what I said above. The ones on page 664, are a lot more green than my breeders. Alan
