  1. buy an oscar breed your guppies and feed the onjes you dont want to the oscar
  2. ive read that temperature and ph levels in the breeding tank can have a substantial effect on what sex the fry turn out to be so id say it is possible to have all fems but what id do is seperate the fish into jars and float the jars in a heated tank for some reason this helps fighters fins to grow faster
  3. what about rams i hear they are pretty timid other than that overstocking your tank with fish means less territories thus less agression
  4. theyre all male and im pretty sure its fryeri
  5. archers monos and scats will live just fine and die of old age in a freshwater tank i know cos i used to have them back in australia and i caught my scats both red and silver in freshwater streams save yourself the hassle and just go with fresh
  6. i set up one of these systems in my old 4 footer and used a 1500l/hr powerhead to run it it worked good to keep out the dead spots but didnt filter much so i made a filter to go around the power head about 15 cm across and the entire width of the tank cut some slits in the top so it was sort of like a in tank skimmer filled it wit bio balls som crushed coral and a bit of filter wool it worked so well that i didnt have to do water changes until it came time to clean the filter media (bout 6 months)
  7. i think it was just a one off like as all gardening shows go different topics every week
  8. ive seen pumps back in australia that pump enough air for a whole shop if you cant get one in nz try this site www.aquariumproducts.com.au they also ship to nz relitively cheap too
  9. looks like a bristle nose from its markings

    betta eggs

yep they are white even un fertilized ones are white but its very rare for them to not be fertilised due to the way they breed congrats on your spawn
  11. looks like the top is fem and the bottom is a boy
  12. if your talking about your jewel with a large tank to its self try some rams or electric yellow/blues or angels catfish the list is endless or just get a sh** load of jewls well probably 4 fems and a male and make it a species tank or breeding colony
  13. you shouldnt have to feed them untill the yolk sack had disolved but after that they'll need some really small foods ie.baby brine shrimp microworm daphnea or even crushed pellets
  14. yellows like caves and they need a flat surface to spawn on so id sugest some slate of varrying thicknes and a few bits of wood plants generally are a waste of time with yellow cos their herbivores(<- cant spell) good luck with them
