    white spot

herefishiefishie, i realise now i probably have to many fish in my tank!! always too late, had my water tested at the pet store and they said fine... add some more, should have really gone with what i knew was right and waited but listened to the person i thought should know what they were doing. upon reading more in this forum have since disconvered other stores that i think i can trust more so will start going there but am going to wait quite some time to make sure the tank sorts itself out and cycles properly. thanks for all the advice though, white spot on the improve i think, although i'm a little confused now to water change or not to water change last did 25% on sunday so i'll do a count up of for and against and make a decision from there!!

    white spot

cheers guys, haven't seen any shimmering but i've put the temp up to 26 and just put in second dose of med. hopefully things should improve from here, luckily its just a couple of danios affected, nothing else has any sign of white spot.

    white spot

i've had the temp at 24 so and i just added the danios a week ago so that is perhaps why they got the white spot. i've been doing water changes (about 25%) so i'll make a couple of changes and see how i get on. haven't had a fish loss in three and a half weeks since i first stocked my tank so want to keep the good record up!!

    white spot

hey guys, i seem to have white spot on a few of my danios. under the recomendation of the pet store i got some malkon to get rid of it. however, i forgot to ask how often to dose the tank. it says 1ml per 20l every day until 4 days after all signs disappear, this seems a lot and just wanted to check and see if this was too much. any other advice would be great. i also have some neon tetras and a couple of panda catfish in the tank too but they don't have any signs of white spot. thanks

    Hi All

Aqua one, thats the ones. In my language its about yay long and yay wide by yay high, (insert hand gestures here), but as a guess its probably around two foot?? Don't quote me on that i never was that great at judging distance.

    Hi All

you guys have all been really helpful, but unfortunately, life has got in the way and a few unexpected large expenses have put all plans on hold for a month or two and with a shift of house coming up in september i have decided i may as well hold off until then. But just because i can't get anything at the moment doesn't mean i haven't been looking. Went to organism today. Was really impressed with how their fish were displayed, just made me curse the money gods all that much more. Back to the topic of fish though. I have a tank all picked out, glass, rounded edges on front, hood with built in lights and filter, (for the life of me can't remember the size even though i was only there an hour ago!!). I've got my heart set on tetra's, either neon or cardinal, and a couple of catfish to begin with. Will decide what else i get after 1. i get the tank!! and 2. everything has had time to settle down. Well that is a quick update on where i'm at and probably been enough reading for you all. Thanks for your help and i'll keep you posted as things progress and when i finally get setup. thanks again.

    Hi All

Thanks for the tips all. Unsure yet of what sort of fish i'm looking at getting but at this stage, (ie without much research), like the look of a couple of catfish, some tetras, (i hear these are schooling fish so at least six i guess and i especially like the neons!!) and not sure where to from there but with the size of tank i'm looking at getting there probably isn't much room in there for much more, don't want to get too carried away when i'm still learning!! Does anyone know any good shops around christchurch that are worth a look?? I'm one of these people that spend ages researching stuff before actually doing anything which i guess isn't a bad thing when we're talking about another living thing!!

    Hi All

Hey guys, I'm yet another newbie looking at investing in a tank in the near future and have joined up here to learn all i can before i do. I've been doing a lot of looking around in pet stores and don't get too far with the sales people who just end up trying to sell me the $2000 rimu stand set up, don't get me wrong, it sure would be nice but not quite what i'm after yet!!! Thought i'd revert to the internet to learn what i can. I'd like a tank around 100l and saw one that looked quite good What are your thoughts on tanks that are taller?? Anyways, i look forward to learning from you guys and one day soon finally get my tropical tank that i've wanted since i was a kid. See ya
