  1. What's a good one? The song?? 8) Alan 104
  2. Suphew, I didn't mention the salties at all, or infer what you are saying. I relize about the heat dispersion for lights as I do it myself. But if the ambient temp is 30 then a fan is just moving 30o air around. In fact thinking about it, it may even warm the water up a bit more. But if you want to go for evaporation to cool down the temp. Drape the tank with damp towels, these evaporaing causes the inside temp. to drop. Remember the old canvas water bottles? Guess not, not many would now. That is how they produced drinkable water, temp. wise. Alan 104
  3. Yes, but what a ghastly sight seeing your white tummy going up and down on the inside of the tank ROFLMAO SSL Alan 104
  4. This method is often used Funky. It is a RAPID change that upsets the fish. Mararetas? mmmmmmmmm. not sure on that Make sure the stirring stik is out Alan 104
  5. They only have small brains, and at the moment, my guess is that they only have one thing on it. Sex, sex and more sex What other fish do you have in with them? Maybe they are having a midnight snack too. Otherwise, you should see little 1.5 clear eggs pasted to the glass. Everywhere Good luck Alan 104
  6. It'll rain soon in Auck. if it isn't already. That will cool the atmosphere. See your other post. Fans are useless, just moving the local air around Don't woory Alan 104
  7. If the temperature of the "day" is affecting your tank. Even the removal of the heater/stat will not stop it. May have to start floating iceblocks in plastic bags. Love the word "choca" haven't heard it in yonks. Alan 104
  8. Use a syphon using an airline and a clip. Adjust drips to suit. A piece of wool into the solution and over the edge forms a good slow drip too. Alan 104
  9. I know, but it may be a popular Aquarium Plant, but did it say it was a good one? Nope. You said it when you said, that you had one but it didn't do so well. Expect the same. Dwarf or not. Sorry. Alan 104

Chloro B., what exactly is this, and what is it supposed to be used for?? Alan 104
  11. Dawn, when you plant Myriophyllum robustum into the tank, the plant doesn't die, but the leaf shap will definately change. Then they will keep trying to grow to the surface to once again change when emmersed. Mondo is not an aquatic, black or green Alan 104
  12. Okay then, for the sake of the oldies around, and the not so old. How about a compromise? Put up the litres and the measurements. Us oldies were taught how to do maths in our heads and can even every now and then use a calculater. Tanks are normally constructed to what the eye sees as "nice" Cubes look "nice" So a 4 footer was usually 4x2x2 A 6'er was 6x2x2. A 2"er 2x1x1 Or for those pedantic ones, the metric equivalent. Next thing you know we will be getting the "long" and "high" being added. That means absolutely Jack S*** to most pll. Dawn please notice, I did reply to HB's Q. But I presume you missed it as you and I was sending together. I am a carpenter and can "see" what sizes look like. Alan 104
  13. I wouldn't go over the 400 mark. I'd also be a bit inclined to put 2 little bits of glass the width of the brace, 25mm wide and glued, narrow edge to the front, to the brace on either side of the tank. This will give you a lot more glue surface than the 5mm you have at the moment. You only have to do this on the centre brace. Make sure any of the old glue, that is surplus is removed before doing this so as the joint is nice and tight. Alan 104
  14. Depends in what situation the tank will be in, in the winter. Outside in a garage, prolly need two 200W heaters in the bigger tank. But in the lounge 200W would be ample. On the 600mm tank I'd use a 150W Alan 104

  16. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR! ! I hate this American system of saying the size of a tank. The litres only give the amount an aquarium holds. Why? oh why? do we have to follow the yanks in everything that they do. I vote for giving the SIZE of the tank. Length x Width X Height. PLEASEEEE Alan 104
  17. What is the thickness of the glass, and what bracing does the tank have? Alan 104
  18. Yeah Staplez, I'm sure everyone has one of them handy. While I was typing that, I just realized I HAVE got one. My pressure cooker You smart ass Alan. Alan 104

Start doing water changes into your babies from the tank that they will be going into. DO IT LITTLE AND OFTEN No airstone at this stage, they'll be bounced all around the place. About four to five days as wrigglers. Alan 104
