  1. I just got one and its fantastic but.... The only down side was the surface scum build up... So I got an old fluval surface skimmer and modifed it to fit.... Without damaging the deltec, on even a scratch. 5 minutes no surface scum.... fantastic and this makes a skimmer even more effeicent.... (spelt wrong) Check out the the pic.. (Dam I have to work out how to do it again)
  2. If hes still alive go buy one or two cleaner shrimp. My tang never goes near mine... unless he (2* got white spot) From introduced fish and corals. I swear they are fantastic for white spot and also look cool, and clean your tank. $65 each =$130 for two Or one power blue (dead) $150 plus. Now thats the accountant in me talking... haha Cheers
  3. I have just been given. A very sick looking anemone for free by the pet shop. (he gave me the usual warnings). I will take a photo tonight and get your opinions on whether you think he can be brought back to health. Its mouth is hanging open, and the sides seem flaky. (As yet I have not added to my tank. He is in a bowl, with only medium helide light on him). Your opinions on this would be valued
  4. How do those nano reef ice probes work?? Does anyone know?

    Seio bashers

Hey heres a hint I used to smash one of mine to get it going. Like a angry monkey!!!!! I started to think that the damage to pump and rock walls was major.. plus sticking the thing back onto the tank. I was watching a doco on apes and tools and went thats the trick HINT get a 10cm long stick, I use a wooden one (electricity non-conductor) and flick the blue implear at the front of the power head it starts every time. I thin with this trick they are way more user friendly. plus super low power consumption. enjoy

  9. Nice Brian. Coming along well..
  10. I use a fluval surface skimmer about $40 on my current skimmer. But I think you can get a surface skimming attachment for a deltec MCE600. (said it inproved performance by up to 10%)\\

    New Halide

I got one from that deepbluesea guy. And I wish I had taken a photo yesterday and then today. The corals loved it... up they opened. I guess I should have changed it earlier not after 12 months  I'll tell you in a couple of days how much more they open up.

  15. Do manadrin fish eat pods?? That would explain the reduction in there numbers in my tank
  16. I must have a crab in my tank. I stuffed a coral into a whole. then 2 hours later it was lieing on the bottom of the tank. (did this three times before finding another whole). I also get the odd thing moved about. Still haven't seen one yet though. Plus I get funny noises at night after lights out.
  17. My weir pro 2014. Fills about 3/4 of the collection cup each week. So I now what steve means for value for money. (Although it could be modified to power it up even more) Brianemone put a more powerful powerhead on his.

  20. Fay your tanks look amazing (The but I bet the photos just don't do them justice) I have had hair algae probs form the begining. The only advantage is my clowns have made it home.
  21. My tangs fussy (yellow tang) Heaps of algae to eat, but attacks the glass if I don't put seaweed out for him by early evening. Hes even turned his noise (so to speak) up at some cheap spiralina. So their all different.

    Top up water

About nine months now. But it seems to crazy if I top up from the tap. I don't think Brian from hamilton has the same problem though. I notice the more natural seawater changes I do the less it grows. (infact it starts dieing off).

    Top up water

Question what best for less Can I use a water filter, or a water distiller for my top up water. As i'm having regular algae build up on my rocks. And it looks gross... Cheers guys
  24. I can't even explain this. Over a week ago a small frag of Brain coral fall down the back of my rocks, and I couldn't find it. Then I got home last night there it was up on-top of my coral rocks. Now I asked my wife if she moved it, because it doesn't have legs.... But she said that she didn't. I cannot explain a movement of over 20cm in a day. Can anyone else, maybe a fish picked it up?? Or a bristleworm?? Very weird,
