Thanks for your ideas, I appreciate very bit of advice you can offer, Tonight he has moved alot and is sitting near the tank bottom, He is still hidding but also has some of his tenticles inflated a bit, I am scared he will get to the back or get stuck in rocks but I don't really want him to get damaged. So I am not moving him around. His suction cup thingee had no rips, when purchased. But tenticles are not what I would call sticky. The more information about the creatures the better. Cheers for the help.

What should I do is it to far gone. I ring my wife before and said it is now half hidden and half out/ half inflated half not. Hiding in between a couple of rocks

This morning when I got up its tenticles were fully inflated and looked nice. I turned the lights on and within 5 minutes it had almost completely deflated and tucked itself away between the rocks. What could be causing this, it does not look happy at all...

He gets fake twice a day and sea weed salad to eat during the day He is very plump looking and healthy as. Question. Could he just be trying to protect his territory?

I have had my tang for above 1 .5 months. He/or she has started to attack the glass when i'm watching it. He looks pretty angry. All tank occupations are in good health so I think its bahaviour issues as all his fins are up and he is in excellent condition. Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

I am running a 80g tank. Be it only for three months. I have no sump, just skimmer and fluval 304, with 4 power heads, 40 kg of coral. The lighting I have been advised to go for is 2* 150 watt metal halides. This will aid coral growth plus give the shimmer off the water. I have 2 damsels, 2 clown fish, 1 yellow tang, 2 cleaner shrimp. All are introduced as baby's (being small they cause a lower bio-loading when introduced) (Had no deaths). I think the biggest issue to watch for in a cheap setup like this without sump and fancy equipment is understanding the limitations of the setup. I have my max fish load, and aim to keep simple corals and an anemone. Another thing which I think is the hardest is patience. I added all my fish and shrimps individually over two months. I take twice the time to release them into the tank than the shop said. Good luck. I'm still reading and learning all the time. This forum is great in getting good advice.

I returned the boxer shrimp to Pet world in Hamilton Murray there was really good and I brought a cleaner shrimp instead. (i might add that I watched the boxer have a crack at a baby blue chomis after lights out) My aim is hassle free "reef safe" tank with nothing that will eat each other or sting me "much" Next time more research will go into my purchases

I have had good expeniences at Jansens but with all large store it does depend on the staff. Hollywoods in Auckland would NOT sell me a Blue Tang for my 200 litre tank due to long term problems and my skill level. Now when your waving $99 at someone when your from Hamilton and walk out with nothing thats good practice.

If I was to get a cleaner shrimp, how long does it take them to shed their shells as i think this is most likely when it would become, lunch dinner or breakfast.

My tank is a 4 foot 200 litre tank, would one cleaner and one boxer be ok in that? With lots of hidding places. My boxer has made her home (green-blue markings on the belly) in the far right hand corner behind one of my pillers. If you look at the side of the tank it comes to the side to defend its spot.

I am wanting to get a cleaner shrimp and red shrimp in the next few months, will the boxer eat them...

I have just got my first shrimp. Boxer shrimp He is still hidding will he eventually cruise the tank, or do they always hide. Also apart from calcium what other specific needs do they have, as the staff at the store seem to know as much as me or less. Cheers ru

Sorry Regal Tang was what I was meaning...... The blue with yellow tail. Like finding nemo.... Although thats not my aim. I beleive the colour contrasts to be impressive. With the 4 fish I am aiming to have being, the 2 clowns ("bangers & mash"), one regal tang, and eventually a manadrin fish or strawberry gramma. In 200 litre tank is this overstocking????

As I am a surfer I spend alot of time at Rags. Can I use this water for my tank. Whats better sea water or the artifical sea salt? What sorts for benefits and problems may I encounter? Cheers for the help....

I set up my tank about 1.5 months ago and have two clown fish The tank size is 200 litres. 4 foot long. I wish to add a blue tang in the future. Will this work? How long should I wait to add the fish?

I have decided to go for Metal halides (150 watt * 2) In a month or so, when I have the cash. Have to buy a new wetsuit first. Surfing always comes first......
