  1. Check if you are on any meds from the doc as it can be a nono, you cannot use it if on warfirin. Google will bring up great info on it and meds.
  2. Does anyone know how the pet shops got on this time? Also the Animates head office is In CHCH. My thoughts are with all of you down there.
  3. Well done, might be an idea to get some green water started.
  4. I thought it might have run away with mine to some tropical island, mine would only make it 10 minutes down the road as only had $19.00 in it. Used it monday and went to go shopping today and it has gone, checked both cars etc but no luck as yet.
  5. Jasmine, they are the ones I said you can not get the blades sharpened, you need to buy a new one, great wee clippers with a whole range of combs for different haircuts.
  6. Cornflour stops the bleeding as well. Have used it when got a blood feather when wing clipping. We started with one Baraband parrot and now have 3 big birds inside and 5 avaries but one is empty.
  7. People clippers are a waste of time as others have said. My advice is to buy a brand like oster or whal or another one that has been around for years. They will cost a bit but well worth it. You can buy some strange brands from the other place that you bid on, these do not have the back up service and maybe hard to get replacement parts. Some of the cheeper ones from the pet shops are good but you cannot get the blades sharpened, about every 4 clips you will need to buy a new blade for under $40.00 It still makes well priced hair cuts as the set has a range of combs for different lengths. It depends on if you have $ for a $600. top of the line set or under $150. for a set with a throw away blade but good clippers.
  8. you could always go for a snorkel with the sharks at the Aquarium. It's great fun.
  9. We have one in Napier, you are welcome to have a look during shop hours. Pm me for our details.
  10. fishbreeder I am pleased you came here, you did not seem to take on board what I told you (at the other place you asked the same question) that you will need more than one small/med tank if you want to breed fighters and also have neons etc. babies need space and water quality to grow and of course good food. Good luck with your setup.
  11. some days Bruce would pay you to take ours away!
  12. lmsmith, are you going to visit The National Aquarium, they have just started up Snorkelling in the Oceanarium, You don't need to be a diver to do it. Anybody can go. The do 3 groups a day. You might want to book if you want to do it. Well worth doing, I have done it and I am not a diver or a swimmer. Was one of the most fantastic things I have done. Cost is $50.00 per person and worth every cent.
  13. What a sad day, to loose a life so young. Before he moved to Auckland Byran used to spend many hours in our shop talking to the fish and us. But most of all the discus we had bought off him. Our thoughts are with his Father who also used to come into the shop and buy fish food as Byran had gone away and not left enough food, so Dad would come in and buy it. From recent posts Bryan was struggling with life, Now you can Rest in Peace. To Bryans Father, no father should have to bury his son. Our hearts go out to you at this tragic time. From one parent to another our thoughts are with you. Bruce and Julie Deco City Pets
  14. Funny that there are no replies
  15. 8:35pm Life In Cold Blood (PGR) From iguanas emerging out of a tropical swamp to a face-to-face encounter with a monitor lizard in the Australian desert, Sir David Attenborough traces the lizards' colonisation of the Earth.
  16. The JBL glass cleaner works very well and is fish safe. check out your lfs
  17. Poor Bruce will never learn that when he say's no more birds, no more avaries he really means get whatever you like dear. More avaries = less lawns to mow. So we both win. lol Is much less noise inside with the conures now outside (only took how many months) so only the king, crimson wing and the rock pebbler inside. They are staying inside, rock pebbler can go out when I can afford a male to go with her. But king and crimson wing come to work most days so not going to be aviary birds.
  18. Suzanne Paul is an example many people should look up to.
  19. and that was not me was it repto? Oppps I hope i'm classed as a friend :bounce:
  20. We have a hooded litter tray for the 2 3/4 year olds, they use it all the time. We don't have many dirt gardens. I prefer they use the tray than go next door to poop.
  21. Ummmmmmm rehome the fish, I think you played that HELP game a couple of weeks ago when we lost power to the fish room. Thank goodness for Keri-anne
  22. Hate earthquakes, not good when the shop alarm goes off. Only a little bit of water on the floor ( 2 towels) from 40 tanks. 1 test kit and 1 pot of fish food fell over. All the birds are safe. The poor Alex was a little wide eyed. At home 1 cat that was asleep near the fish tank got a rude shock as he got quite wet, another cat is still under the bed, number 3 thinks it's great that mum is up to play with her,a few things fell over but we and our beloved pets are all fine. Many thanks to Keri-anne for comming to the shop incase we needed help with any clean up. :bounce: :bounce:
  23. Remove all the fish, stones and water. The base is not thick glass. I am moving one the same this week and will fully empty it. Bag the fish as you would buy them from a shop and put them in a poly box until the tank is reset up. Save as much of the tank water as you can. Better to be safe THAN HAVE A TANK WITH NO BOTTOM IN IT.
  24. Mixed answers, under tank and under gravel, Do you want to know about root heaters or heating pads?
