The root heaters are not enough to heat the tank, lucky with the juwel tank the heater is hidden in the filter box.

I have root heaters in my planted tank (JBL ones) they seem to be working well, have fine substrate, have also put on a gas bottle type co2 unit about a month ago. Tank is starting to look really great. Had to cut about 50 big leaves off the big sword plants yesterday.

Last night we lost power to the fishroom, not sure why but trip switch kept popping. Thanks to Kerri-anne my fish are all tucked up in nice warm tanks. Her Guppy population just grew by about 500, She was up to her armpits with only a spot light for light. She only missed 5 baby guppies that I found this morning. This is what I call a true friend, ready to help in my time of need and not for personal gain. She did not know she was going home with 2 extra tanks and 100s of fish to grow up for me. I once again have a tank inside. Have not had tropical fish inside for many years, only seahorses. Lucky for me I had a nice 1/2 round tank with filter, lights and heater sitting in the shed. Some good old firth bricks and a sheet of wood for stand. Not sure if I will restart the fishroom as I really need a break after so many years. Might just see if I can sell it. We used a truck with a crane and just swung it over our fence, then put the jigsaw of frames and tanks back into place. It has given many years of pleasure but I would rather spend time playing with my birds. Speaking of birds I must go and clean some very wet smelly avaries out.

Make sure your air pumps are above the water line on the tanks or have back flow valves on them, so the water does not back flow and blow the air pumps up.

But all grey babies have bars until the first moult at about 8 months old, don't they? Then only the hen has the bars and males grey.

Hi northland chic Has it been DNA'd, otherwise very hard to sex. He might really be a she. You can't go by the orange on the checks. What colour is it? and what age? Like us females, girls can talk just like the males. Our 3 year old inside boy does not like other tiels but is in love with our crimson wing, whose cage is next to his during the day.

Reef what brand are your baked beans, watties?, budget?, as I would be more than happy to buy the same brand as your "baked beans". Do you also fill the co2 bottle with the baked bean gasses.

I also think the male Baraband is a great choice, mine was not hand reared but straight out of the nest box just as he was ready to fledge. What a great boy my Frodo was, great talker as well. Sadly he passed away 2 years ago. As for a Alex you need to start collecting ear plugs now for there noisy times, mine is noisy morning and evening but pretty good during the day. He is at the shop with us and out of his cage all day. A king parrot is my pick, Our Lucan is the best, not loud, very good looking, not a great talker as he comes to work most days since he was 4 months old and around to many people, but chatters words at home to himself, but also have 5 parrots in the lounge :lol: ! King Parrot, 1 Crimson wing Parrot, 1 rock Pebbler and the new guests until there aviary is built a pair of green check conures. More birds inside than fish :lol:

I really don't think Repto's wife would like the gold cards bill when it arrived. My credit card would just laugh at me. Really don't think Bruce would like another bird inside but he knows better than saying I can't have something, that to me means "yes dear" "you can have what ever pet you want". I will only ever be able to afford a beast of a bird like that when I won't need to have a parrot stand for it, it will be able to sit on my zimmer frame. Got a breeder that has bred them for many years to have a look at mine, I only bought 2 of them a month or so ago, but they are 2 year olds.So might have 4 boys and 2 girls He thinks I might have 2 girls, but they are a bit thin. They eat like nothing on earth, knocking on the tank if I have not got to them yet. They are on display in the shop and most people think the are mex walking fish, even when I have a big sign with there name. So will wait till next year and see come breeding season.

Jap boys have swellings!! behind the back legs, some boys look like females until you put them in with other boys and there b...s will drop. Girls are a bit bigger. I have 6 adult boys so I'm looking for girls, Will buy or trade.
