haha something like that you wanna make sur eyou give enough room. a indoor pond is definitely doable. one day, ..... one day, my obsession will take me to greater heights. 10,000 litre indoor monster pond/tank. one tank to rule them all. -

lol thats not the point, its just awesome!! yeah true, really it has to be a pond or a huge huge tank wouldnt be practical here unless you have deep pockets to heat the tanks. but over there, huge ponds would be the ideal situation. but awesome anyways. -

http://stonesaquarium.blogspot.com/ wow, giant freshwater stingray!! didnt even nkow they sold that!! its a paiR!! -
my smaller fire eel didnt eat for 2 weeks after intro. give it time in saying that, offer food daily, just once. if it doesnt eat it, wait till next day. as long as there is food daily, it shouldnt starve itself try bloodworms first, when it eats ... then get it onto raw prawn - thats better for it and will boost its growth. give it time.

no i dont see the spoon as this is an internet media, though if you post a picture i may. but i dont get the relevance of the spoon. .... do you want to stir a casserole or do you want to spank me wtih it?

a lot of them get the drop eye. its not actually bung, its just facing down. it is most likely from the tanning light being all all the time. its still a good fish despite that cant get this one too:D my one has to be alone, they will fight lol. mine has a darker base, arofanatics said that mine has a resemblence to a purple base, this one i believe will be a greener base. but its hard to say, everyone has theories. this is stilla nice fish th ough,c olour development is good.

yeah, thats a mixed thing. examples of arowana. I have noticed that silver aros fed on beef heart predominantly tend to get off white in colour, body is not as nice and scales lack shine. Ones fed on pellets and shrimp i find to look nicer. from personal experience and what i seen. MFK ers feed fish HEAPS because monster fish eat dramatic amounts of food in the wild. Regulating their diet is unwise, naturally they should and are supposed to grow rapidly through massive consumption of food. a myth recently i seen in the forums for arowanas, some say that you should feed aros only a little bit a day. almost to the point of starving - regulating and making growth small. behind a myth is always a reason for the myth. in asia, they have small tanks, to have a 1000 litre tank is really unusual, not cos of cost but space. most aro keeprs there deem a 500litre tank to 600 a good size, 800L tank is considered to be big. My 1200LItre tank they consider monstrous, i dont, they do... cos of space. some say regulating diet of fish will help the red arowana develop colour, not true, age and food and size do that. But they regulate so the aro doesnt grow too big too fast and out grow the small tanks they are in. so in time this became embedded in the culture and has become a fact instead of a preference. MFKers, are mostly americans, canadians and wester countries. THey m=have more space so they will feed heaps, as theiur tanks are large. Arapaima Gigas can grow to 1 metre in its first 18 months of life in the wild, i dont see these guys having their diet regulated in captivity beef is cheaper, and does give a punch to their diet, bad or not.... some say not, some say do. I guess we need science to study this, there is an article somewhere, yet many still feed it with great success

i largely agree, supposedly mamalian protein is diff to fish protein. I can see the logic there, but in saying that. Every predator eats vegetation. Ever prey eats vegetation. its all in the gut. thats why if you look at all pellets, it will have algae or spirulina or something similar. beef is good to enlarge fish, long term i have had no issue, but then again, how do we know? how long does a fish live?
-
i have used beef heart through out my fishkeeping - mixed with a pellet and beef heart diet, growth is fantastic, it is higher in fat, but fixsh love them. in saying that, you have to have a godo filter, its messy! but i grew my clown loaches on them, lately i cant be bothere dwith them so just fork out pellets, better for fish anyhow, but some argue its not good for fish. but then again, on MFK, there is a guy with a 20plus years old ornate.... HUGE eating beef heart the whole time.

yeah, its a fine balance i guess. there is no incentive for maf to allow it in, i mean they cant care less for hobbyist, fair enough too. for us its annoying, but the govt does not care about hobbyist, why should they its not a priority so i understand but it would be cool if they did:D -

negver say never, its not a piranha or anything. but it would take someone to apply to erma, they would need research to say that it wouldnt establish here. time , money. the thing is, once the rays are in, they can easly be bred here. its not hard to breed them, apparently they will just breed with relative ease. so for a importer to import them, is risk they do it with rarer and nicer cichlids and breeders will breed them and thats it, they are dirt cheap. thats what will happen here. thats the problem. -

yeah, some people here would highly disagree lol but i agree, i think some species have no chance of surviving our waters! i mean none. you have to be selective in what to bring in of course. -
in theory you can during ww2, some people in concentration camps were fed only pumpkins - i mean ONLY pumpkins, and skin turns very orange. it works too in humans:D

we could lets occupy .... that foot path area in front of maf office in the city. have a tent say8ing "We want rays" "we want armatus" -
haha well, food does play a part someone on arofanatics said that a good imperial VIP actually turns this way regardless of diet (prawn as primary only nothing else) he said that he had one similar blood line (dont know how he figured that) but he said, it will end up a nice colour as its apparent but in saying that, i dont know, like you said, no control so i guess with the investment i made in the fish to begin with, i may as well feed it nicely lol you dont buy a lambo and take it to a carwash and put 91 gas in it, cheap budget tyres i guess:D

man, its not even their whole inventory, its just new stuff they have in. makes me wanna cry http://www.arofanatics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478871
