  2. pellets good too, agreed. im geting the black aro onto pellets asap. yeah african, but that will never come in lol
  3. yeah the fish looks very healthy, good shape, strong looking. just wanna make sure and hope it spawns and makes babies lol.
  4. i think they are cool, havent seen many around. i found a pair of snow leopards or aka white leopards. very nice pair. babies derived from them will be approx 50% snow leopard, 25% leopard and 25% snow whites according to their genetics as to how they were bred. so all in all the babies should look interesting lol, the snow leopard is hetero genetics im told. so if i can get them to breed, would be awesome!
  5. lol lkets not be premature! i am still looking for the pair. and they still have to spawn. these ones have not spawned yet lol as i dont have them. though im confident, my secret recipe of food will make them spawn. viagra ........ i hear that works 8)
  6. cool found an awesome pair! i havent seen manyh around so hopefully i will be one of the first to breed them:D im gonna breed it and see how i go lol but i wanna make sure that theya re old enough and not too young. i guess like reptiles, maybe too young can harm the fish or they may not make suck viable and strong babies? dont know but i read that the pair should be 2 to 2.5 years old to breed properly? maybe its wrong. but good to start them fat and thick and strong and healthy anyways:D
  7. i got liquid fert and jbl balls. i put the balls in the pots today. the plants are growing exceptionally well! the argentines and the amazons are growing fast, but now with jbls should not have the ho les soon! the liquids is for the anubias plants i have. the flower shoots are really really long! i have sunk them now. the amazon flower shoot now has a new plant growing out of it! im excited lol
  8. definatley a jar, no doubt about it. they are dark when young, as soon as they hit 6 inch, reds start to come up and they get slightly mroe bronze. feed plenty of shrimp, when about 6 inches, start feeding shrimp WITH shell, not head SHELL body shell, cut it to little pieces, that helps them colour up i found. i love them! but not enough room. one day i want silver, black, jardinii, asian arowanas. so far i have an rtg, and getting a black soon. but each one needs such big tanks! so had to choose which one i have.
  9. if i buy discus, 12 cms ish tip to tip, 18 months old. do you think it will grow a little mroe if i feed it well and in a huge tank? i mean id otn mind, its about 5 inch, its pretty good. and its a pair - i think so looking at breeding it anyways, but of course i wanan get it bigger over the next 6 to 8 months. anyf eedabck?
  10. i have decided to breed start of next year. i am loking for nice ones now:D
  11. ok how big does a discus after 18 months? i mean, they cannot be full grown. many say that discus dont fully mature and grow to their full potential untill 2.5 to 3 years. 18 months means they are just young adults? is this right? some mroe size to put on? any facts about this?
  12. its hard, i believe with a group like that, you should be ok. but then again, you dont wannar isk stunting discus either. its a call you have to make IMO. in a tank big enough, perhaps you can do it and feed in two different places? someone here told me to do that, now my discus are happier. but now i have 20, ranging from monster discus to 3.5 smallest discus. they all eat and the small ones eat till bloated. in fact, every discus ignores the small ones, they only fight amongst the same size ones lol.. its funny the heirarchy they form.
  13. i think they should be ok. just put enough food. discus should get competitive too. i foudn when i jumped from 10 discus to 17 over 3 days, everyone ate more.
  14. ahhh good ti konw! smaller shrimp it is
  15. asians can live anywhere, put it in a shack byt he river. The australian may be the picky one.... 8)
  16. i am extremely tempted to breed discus! i have had good luck with spawning and paring up. but not sure if i should lol
  17. i turned up the auto changer 50% more water turn over. the filters are doing their thing and i feed 5 to 6 times a day in the discus tank for the littlies and mediums to get bigger. but the big ones of course eat like crazy too! tis girl is a pig! she has now spawned twice in 2 weeks! man, im gonna breed discus. im gonna cross a snow white with a weird male to get some weird animal:D
  18. feed lots of shrimp apparently, thast what i did, mine i think was quite red and pink.
  19. rtg wont eat it, too dry i think. loves the fd krill shrimp stuff though. loves it! goes for it like live mealworms. weird.
  20. i thoguht, grating would make it look like a worm:D
  21. so mealworms is a good thing? veges, what is a good one to use? peas i was told is good. parsley? discus tucker has parsley i believe, can anyone confirm that?
  22. oh, sorry and 3 to 5 cloves of garlic?
  23. oh yes spinach, sorry someone mentioned that, good one.
  24. what do you think of this mix??: as a trial only. rations will remain roughly the same. my thing here is to ensure that there is a huge range of vits, proteins, fats and trace in it. also going on over seas opinions of what they do. 400g beef heart 150g Beef Liver 250g Raw prawns (please give me veges to put in: peas, courgettes, parsley?) 1/4 cup of discus bio gold 1/4 cup of massivore:D (gotta have that in there) 1/2 of blended mealworms minced very finely rolled into glad wrap like a sausage so i jsut open one end and use a cheese grater. re wrap:D ow does the above sound? has a good ratio of beef heart, not too much liver, good ration of shrimp. Should i add bloodworms? the above is not a staple, i decided against too much meat. i would probably say the discus diet will be 70% pellets, the rest is beef mix.
  25. well msot of my diet is a mixture of hikari discus bio gold, specifically formulated for discus and tetra colour bits. so out of the pellet intake, i would say 80% hikari, 20% tetra so they dont get too red artifically. then discus tucker 2 to 3time a week. the discus tucker contains prawns, veges, garlic, beef heart. i was thinking of making my own, i find lately discus tucker has had much fat in it...maybe just my batch. but i am now reconsidering, a blend of beef heart, prawns (raw) and liver. not too much liver, but a blend. plus in there add some veges like peas. what other veges can i put in there? or shall i just stick to discus tucker and not make my own? i guess discus tucker is pretty good, popular too. alot of breeders use discus tucker. i guess i like the idea of making my own! so i know what goes into it.
