  3. what high protein miracle stuff please share:D im interseted. sinking? im only keen on sinking food for discus cos of over flow. if youc ould let me know brand or where to get high protein stuff or is it sinking?
  4. i have 14 and they eat lots. i think its ok, its the principle of multi feeds a day i guess. adults too benefit from the multi feeds?
  5. can i get a indication on your feeding regime? i feed mine 4 times a day through out the day with one bigger feed at night. reason is that i use auto feeder 3 times during the day, and i feed manually at night. i find theyd otn come up to the tank AS much anymore. probably cos they are not hungry. butin saying that, this is what i read how to feed. nwo i am told, adults can be fed once or twice a day. babies to juvies can be fed multiple times a day. any feedback? i have 1x small, 2x juvie, 2x sub adult and 9 adults. theya re all in the 1200Litre tank. so i cant really discriminate on the feed. they seem fat and happy and very thick. some are growing bigger. except for panag eruption and leopard who seems to have full vivid colours at a small medium size, which i take it wont grow much bigger:(
  6. yeah, i have had this problem. knives and arowanas cans ometimes not like each other. maybe cos they are both bony tongue, same shape around about. but i had exactly same problem with my rtg. they wre ok, and when i moved, suddenly rtg snapped and kept on harassing it. simple fix i reckon. drift wood may hurt your aro but definately h elps. but whats gonna happen, well happened to me is that the knife WILL never get out, as it does, aro will chase it. what id id was introduce a oscar in there. oscars are robust, and will eat in any condition. also i added the tinfoil barbs... the distraction was enough to stop the arowana. if that doesnt work, maybe send it to anger management school - as the crusaders who they send their players to:D
  7. looking for medium large female discus. or extremely large discus in general.. strains im after: albinos leopard albino leopard snake skin variety large turquoise strains
  8. where do you even buy that there is no contact details or am i imagining things?
  9. the funny thing is, reading that is just the same as reading hikari. man! how d you decide. hikari has served me well. massivore is the best growth and beefing up pellet i have ever used. high in protein etc. looking at mfk, people are torn between NLS and Hikari generally. nls is actually quite expensive to import, which sucks.
  10. yeah importing nls is same price as importing hikari.
  11. some have said that hikari is a marketing monster and their food is same or no better than NLS. nls i have heard everyone raving about, are they a big brand? american, uk?
  12. is there an y giant floras in the country being bred?
  13. what if i just leave it as it is, dont plant it, just leave it dangling? will it keep growing larger and fed by the original mother plant?
  14. sorry typo damn my m ind and fingers sometimes miss each other. yeah, i literally jsut ran out to the fish room and put one gently and put it under the twirly wood, now its gonna grow sideways towards centre of tank all submerged. the amazon still short, i will make sure that stays in water. the second argentine needs 2 inches before i can tangle it in the wood too. but, any suggestions, if there are no wood around, how can i weight it down?
  15. no need so you say just keep it out of water and somehow keep it growing in the water. so they are not flowers? what are they? is it new plantlets? if thats the word lol or actual blossoms ?
  16. wait wait so i have to weight it down and keep it under water? its not sticking out of the water, do i like tie it to a rock? or wood? or will it kinda fall into the water itself? its growing litereally 1 inch a day!
  17. i just planted those plants right? as seen in my vid with discus. the argentine swords and large amazon sword seems to be flowering. this flower bud shot out of the amazon sort, now is almost taller thant he plant. the two argentine sword has the flower shoots out of the water. just wondering,do i cut these off? or just leave them?
  18. cool shame wont hatch is fish food:D
  19. no kidding, another layed eggs. really bizzare, different fish exactly the same spot...........weird. but eaten right after laying, 1 hour after. do they just lay when its time to pop them out? wish i could hatch them lol
  20. the silk worm pupa i am refering to is FD. so all water content is gone. so its lighter, hence the high er protein count. this product is available plenty overseas and recently been introduced here in lfs. was thinking variety i guess is better than one single food.
  21. yeah, similar, no i havent but breaking it open is annoying isnt it? i guess variety is a good thing, i could do a combo of shrimp AND silk worm FD plus locust that i breed. i am just putting this up also for discussion, i find it interesting. cos first look, the cost of pellets and prepared foods is alot. but really. value for money isnt that bad
  22. Ok, today i was thinking. i feed shrimp to my arowana. A kg of tiger peel prawns are 18/kg it is only 16 to 18% protein in total. i saw silk worm FD, and that is 52% protein, Plus i am certain that silk worm will carry more nutrients and trace and minerals than prawn. Now i have been served well by prawn, but this is about science and bang for your buck as well as whats better for your fish. Hence the title:D i figure, i just measured and each prawn is average 11 to 12 grams each. thtas 2.16 grams of protein per shrimp. IF i fed something like silk worm. I would only need 4 to 5 grams of silk worm to get the same nutrients out of a prawn. Most of the shrimp is water. or pellets is the same. Most arowana pellets are 40% protein, you would only need to feed 1/3 the weight of you do prawns to get nutrients plus they get more than protein. In the end, the cost isnt all that much if you work out the cost of feeding so much prawns to equal the nutrient content of the pellets or FD silk worms. thoughts?
  23. if you look at the ingredients in hikari at the back, theris a mssive amoutn of blends compared to colour bits and novo bits etc. shanda, there is no website about them. what is the composition of fats and proteins etc. anyone hav that? has anyone here raised small discus to large with shanda? or made thinner large discus fatter wih shanda?
