    Barrys tank

wow that is a nice tank
  3. yeah it has the roller things. I will be setting it back up again when my tank comes back into the house. They work great and kept my levels spot on for well over a year
  4. yeah mine was the 2 channel tube. I had the unit for a year before the alarm started to go off all the time and it would stop dosing, sometimes it would go off 5 times in a day. I was thinking it was the tubing but could have been the doser which was the problem
  5. my pump has been great and kept my cal/alk levels spot on for over a year, however I had issues with the tubing and have since taken it off. I have also moved in the last 2 weeks and my tank has been split up into two systems in the garage, when I finally move it into the lounge in 4 months time I will hook it back up again
  6. I havent used it for a few months so will need to find out exactly what type of transformer it was, from memory it was for 240v down to 112v or whatever the yanks use
  7. I have that pump wasp. I brought a transformer from dick smiths and it works just fine
  8. Hi, just wondering if t5 bulbs are made specifically for the aquarium trade(well mh bulbs as well) or are they just differentiated because of their kelvin rating. For example is there any difference between a 10k arcadia t5 bulb or say a another brand 10k t5 bulb which is not aquarium specific.
  9. I brought my RO unit from a local company who got it from anthony preston in howick. It only cost me $350. It is a 4 stage unit I think

    miracle mud

miracle mu is a very easy system to use(IMO). Both my brother and I use it and we have both had great results with it, both with sps lps and softies. I made the mistake of taking my calupra out of my sump so have a hair algae prob I am slowly getting rid of. My brother on the other hand has had no problems and his tank is very clean with all types of corals doing very well. Ongoing maintenance is very low. My brother for instance changes 10% water every 6 weeks or so, and until he got sps 6 months ago never really added any cal or alk to his tank on a regular basis. Just depends on what sort of system you want and how much maintenance you are prepared to undertake as to how you set your tank up
  12. Heres a few photos of my brother tank, camera isnt the best plus took them during the day. Lights had just come on so some things had not yet opened up. Tank is 4 ft cube with 3 250w MH and is running miracle mud with a small deltec skimmer. I will post some beter pics when i bring my camera up soon
  13. are you feeding or dosing anything just before lights out?
  14. wow tank looks really great

I thought she wasnt responsible either till I happened to watch her do it, heres hoping it is her

    Anemone troubles

my maroons attack my anemone also, I bet thats why you are finding bits floating around your tank

    Anemone troubles

what sort of clowns do you have?
  18. very impressed with what i read, might try moving my streams and see what happens
  19. you can definately keeps soft corals with fluro lights. There are some great looking tanks around without skimmers but the majority of people use one. I would say lighting and a skimmer are the two most important things you need for a marine tank
  20. yes they can, there are quite a few tank makers who can make large tanks like that. They are all (mostly) glass
  21. How are the corals liking the new lights???
  22. I use asw. The main reason is for me I think its a cheaper option than heading over to the shore to pick it up. Sure it doesnt cost anything to collect except 2 hours of my time 2 times a month as opposed to the 5 mins it takes me to make 100l of asw
  23. I dose randy's 2 part for alk and cal, use mag powder from medchem, I dose strontium and iodine maybe monthly if I remember
