  1. it is from medchem in 25 kg bags
  2. wow ben thats coming along very nicely
  3. tank looks great well done. What sort of lights does the tank have
  4. lighting shouldn't be too bad either, I am running t5's on the display and probably on the mud sump also. After reading chimera's post on the other site I am now debating whether to run 5, 7 or 9 lights on the display. Each light is overdriven to 80w so 5 will equal 400w which is probably plenty for a 4ft tank
  5. Hey, I have the opportunity to have a few large sumps under my house for my next tank. My display will only be 400-500l as that is all the room I have upstairs. My question though is it worth have a sump system much larger than my display. I know there is the hopeful benefit of more system stability with a larger water volume, then there is the added cost of more power for heating and more salt for water changes.
  6. give it another month and u will need a tractor Hmmmmm how many burn outs can I do on a 60m driveway 8)
  7. good luck restarting your tank, isnt that almost as good as an upgrade
  8. having an external overflow box makes the tank stick lots further out from the wall, imo not a good look for a corner tank. I tried to get a tank drill here in auckland 4 months ago, glass merchants wouldn't touch it as it was an existing aquarium. I had mine cut by a tank maker who was happy to do it though so I would sugest trying your local tank maker.
  9. I think the red sea units are also a good way to get started, $2k isnt expensive for a start in this hobby

I used to have a $50 via aqua pump mixing my saltwater, it was usually ready the next morning. As my tank is temp and I dont need my return pump I have a laguna 6 mixing it lol, now its ready in about 30 mins

it will disolve give it time. Thge salintity will rise as it slowly disolves. Not sure if boiling the water would have helped at all. Should be clear by the morning

lol its so big it doesn't even look like a deltec anymore
  15. nice tank, how many t5's do you have and what sort etc?
  16. i manually dose cal/alk powder 2 times a week, mag powder 1 time per week. I know how much my tank uses so put the same amount in each time. Takes me maybe 10 mins at the most a week. I am looking at getting a cal reactor for my new tank but at this stage will stick with the powder as I dont want to rely on too much electrical equipment
  17. around 30 I think
  18. I have 3 of the ones from hollywoods, work very well, move a lot of air but are noisy
  19. from memory hrv needs a 100cm roof cavity to be installed, would guess dvs would be about the same
