  1. Did my monthly water change tonight. Just finished. Just thought Id mention to everyone to remember the power of a 20mm syphon pipe in full suction mode! I just sucked off one whole head off my bloody Hammer coral. I quickly turned my head to look at something and my arm turned with it! The bucket was swimming with little hammers! I think it will look a little silly for awhile. Damn.... :-?
  2. lots of corals feed at night letting out stringers/strands, (similar to spider webs). This is normal. They will also let them out if the tank has been played with, (Like changing things or moving things around). All good.

  6. Are you running a sump? Pretty Important for an 80 Gallon setup. You may need to add one. A really good site over there is www.wetwebmedia.com. Bob fenner is a marine aquarium book writer and you can email him directly. I would not be running an 80g tank without one.
  7. Im not going to bother.

Baking soda is the easiest way. If you are running a small system, Reef Success CALK is a great way to add KH and Calcium at the same time. I am using it and it is great. You simply dump the powder into the sump twice a week and your done. No premixing or settling whatsoever. Well priced to for the amount used. Then you simply add a little bit of Baking soda to keep the kh up to around 10KH. IMO. I only use this system as my system is too small to use a reactor. Otherwise a reactor is the ultimate for stability. (The KH buffer in the CALK is not sufficient to keep it all the way up, only buffers it a touch, but sends the calcium up hugely). I love it!
  11. What does STN look like? anybody got before and after pics?
  12. Mmmm.....You used someones "first name" by the look of it.

  15. If you cant see the floatees, just pour it in. The skimmer/mechanical filter will pull out the small floatees in no time. (Even the big ones). YOU NEED A SKIMMER! Without them you are pushing %#$@ up hill! Good luck

    overflow size

Man... I have just got online after unblocking my overflow! Some small rocks and a Glass shrimp had got caught in an elbow and was back filling the tank. Lucky I was looking and noticed an extra amount of bubbles coming from the main return. The sump had backfilled over the top of the overflow chamber. :-? Its not ample when there blocked!
