  2. that's how i have mine, except i have noodles underneathe coarse sponge, not on top. Works well for me
  3. I saw an albino female on TradeMe, pic was not the actual but looked the same, and looked fantastic. Unfortunately i had a few too many drinks with friends :roll: and forgot to log on for the auction close :evil: I want one... so bad. Would like to cross with one of my swordtail males and see what kind of pretties show up.

  7. P.S. When you see what's left over after a bucket/tub feed, you'll be glad you're not putting that mess in your tank any more
  8. Mine was the same at first, but it didn't take him long to get used to it, now eats happily in his bucket. He'll get the idea - Give it a shot, the results are well worth it.

  11. yesh - today i'm cleaning mine for the first time so i'll let you know what the damage is. But canisters are pretty good for cleaning/rinsing, so should be ok, i'm more worried about the smell :lol:

  15. Hey Helena, i have a 12cm turt in a 900mm x 450mm tank, filled about 30cm with water (just over 100L). I also use a CF1000. I haven't had any problems since installing it, no brownish water etc, but thought i'd try and help. How do you have your filter media set up?

    Yeah, bettas have charachter I love 'em They can change their appearance a bit - become duller/paler when frightened or trying to hide etc, brighter when showing off, but i don't think they would actually change colour? I think it's more likely that it's the amount of natural light changing that makes different colours show more. I have a male that has dark blue, bright blue, purple, greenish and aqua, and i often can't see some of the colours, but when i get him under a decent display light i can see all of them - just depended on the time of day/amount of light/direction of light. Hope that helps

  24. awesome!! more keep appearing every now and again... i wonder what it looks like, i've seen a shark n dolphin give birth on tv, it looks funny... Do they pop out slowly so that she's swimming round with an extra "appendage", or does it happen rather quickly?
