  1. The only result from ignoring advice from people who have been there done that and getting agro will be dead fish, 2ft 2 1/2 ft either way still a small tank. A bigger tank gives more lee-way for fish stock and water quality.

    B/N get stuck?

Probably they are the ones that got away from him, i usually get that with the GBA, they are usually hatched for 5-6 days before he lets them venture out, be weary if you have any other fish in the same tank as i found small swordtails pecking at the fry. Good luck with the fry
  3. My GBA spawn around every 3 weeks, i sell them for $15 which for the same size (50mm) in LFS are around $34.95, seen them for $24.95 (30mm) at LFS and adults are $64.95
  4. I think there is a list of breeders from the different fish clubs, but not all people who breed fish are on it. I breed Golden Blackeyed Ancistrus (Bristlenose) but i'm not on any list.
  5. I believe it's a "song and dance" Shae rather than a aong and dance LOL It is an impressive hatching but we don't all have to comment if we think that. If someone wants to comment, cool, if not thats cool to.
  6. Yeah they would do the trick.
  7. I would take a small fish out of the community tank, only prob is you'll have to leave it in there to keep it cycled, or pick up a cheap platty or something that you can leave in there.
  8. I have had over a dozen spawns from my GBA and doing bi-daily water changes was loosing about 60% of the fry, with a weekly water change and surface gravel vac i may loose 1 fry if any. They like reasonably clean water but not to clean. Be weary of leaving the Courgette in to long as it there seems to be quite a bit of juice leaches out, i was told by Kim at Pupuke Aquariums no longer than 24 hrs.
  9. It is a fairly small tank, 510mm long, way to small for plecos, might be ok for some small africans, check out http://www.petplanet.co.nz call them and ask how much for a new one minus stand, they would be the cheapest around for Aqua One tanks/stands.
  10. Myself if she's swimming ok and eating i would wait and see how she is tommorrow... If it looks like she's suffering i'd put her down. Hard choice.
  11. More like lights, depending on how deep the tank is as to how many lights you will need, more light better growth. Think i remember someone saying about 6500 kelvin is good for plants, if you are going for a round container it would be better to spread the light out as if it is all in the center the plants will grow towards it. Possibly a hydroponics light with a large round reflector would do the trick, might even be able to pick one up off trade me.
  12. Golden Blackeyed Ancistrus (Bristlenose), i get a few "cool fish" comments. Look great with a dark background.
  13. What area are you in? I'll do you a swap, some of your females for some of my males...
  14. There are 2 sorts of under side heating, one is a pad that sits under the tank and keeps the glass and substrate warm and there is one that goes into the substrate, your LFS may have one or both of these but not real cheap to buy, from memory an in substrate heater for a 3ft tank would be close to $250. Either one will be better than just having a heater in the tank.
  15. I feed mine on the same as the adults get, courgette, shrimp pellets and nutrafin bottom feeder tablets, mine get fed 3 times a day to make sure there is always food for the fry. The angel will more than likely eat them, i had a couple of 40mm swords in my GBA tank to eat the mossie larvae the GBA's were from adult to 1 week and noticed the swords pecking away at them, and angels are piglets
  16. If you could measure the length, width and height and let us know what is in there at the moment should be able to give you a fair idea of how many more you can keep. The old story, you can keep heaps, just need more tanks LOL
  17. Awesome Phillz, they don't look much like angels at that size do theyLOL Well done getting pics that close to them.
  18. I've got 2 medium and 1 large clown loaches and my large one is a fairly pale yellow. I was looking at a tank full down at Hollywood Fishfarm and noticed some are quite a bright yellow/orange and dark black and some are a more pale yellowy/orange and black. I have read somewhere that the more pale ones are females so it is possible that the one you are talking about is a female. I think my big one is a female to, i hope that's all it is and hope it alleviates any worry.
  19. My male standard b/nose was alone for a few years before getting a partner so that shouldn't be a problem, 50cm would be ok, you will want to have some driftwood and somewhere for it to hide like a cave, if you find the right piece of driftwood it could double as a hidey hole. You may want to have a couple of neons or cardinals or platies etc to have something that moves and give the tank some colour. Good luck with the tank.
  20. I myself would be doing 10 litre a day water changes, no added chemicals or ammo-lock, don't clean the filter either as a clean will kill off some of the good bacteria. Just syphon the water, don't clean the gravel. Do this for a couple of weeks and should see some sign of the ammonia dropping.

    Golden Nuggets

Give Hollywood Fishfarm a try, i know they have had them but not sure about now, they will be able to order some in for you.
  22. I would think the 380 may be a bit small for a pair of adults, the 380 is about 300x300 surface area isn't it?
  23. Yes, my female and got a male that lay eggs about every 3 weeks, got a 3ft tank with somewhere around 80 in it ranging from 10mm to 50ish mm. They look cool all being in one tank.
  24. I would put a cpuple of fish in every few day (4-5) either new or old ones but give them some time to get accustomed to the new tank water. I put mine in a bag floating in the new tank, wait 10 mins then add some new tank water to the bag, do this twice then the fish can go into the new tank. I initially put say 500mls in the bag then add 250 and another 250 so the water ends up being half and half.

    Fish Rooms

I know someone that is making uv lights, he uses them on his breeding tanks and a 35000 ltr pond, they look pretty good to. If you interested let me know how many litres and ill find out a price, heaps cheaper than the shops.
