    MAF fish list

Thank you guys so much for the fast replies! I just need the black neon tetra reference now. Interesting info re the cories. I don't know what you mean by 3 lines exactly, but the julii has spots when the trilineatus has lines so comparing with my pic it is definitely the trilineatus. Brian from the Goldfish Bowl had said this too so I would believe him (been in the industry 40 years). edit: thanks pegasus i just saw your reply now, i sat writing my reply while in the meantime you made your post.

    MAF fish list

Hi unbelievably my book does not appear to have a ISBN on it! it was 1971 so it is pretty old. So...I desperately need ISBNs and pg numbers for: Hyphessobrycon Pulchripinnis (Lemon Tetra) Hemigrammus Bleheri (Rummy-nose Tetra) Hemigrammus erythrozonus (Glowlight Tetra) Paracheirodon axelrodi (Cardinal Tetra) Hyphessobrycon herbertaxelrodi (Black neon Tetra) and i also need someone to tell me what this is: http://community.webshots.com/photo/482 ... 0004nwTSnl and please also provide a reference, thanks for any help, i need this info asap Cheers
  5. Thanks for those refs.... i thought it would be such an easy question because they're so popular but that's almost their downfall...because they may have morphed. I'll just put down both names and state they could be known as either. Does anyone know if it's submissions to Warren by 15th, or does he have to have to MAF/govt by 15th?
  6. We could/should have started a thread where after submitting we wrote down common name/scientific name of what we'd submitted. That way we could keep each other up to date rather than relying on one person. How does that sound?
  7. Great thanks Caryl Do you have a reference to this?
  8. Okay here's a pic: http://community.webshots.com/photo/482 ... 0004nwTSnl
  9. Is the technical name Ancistrus Dolichopterus? Someone thinks it may be Ancistrus Temminckii. If so this amazingly doesn't appear to be "done" for the MAF fish study. Can someone advise me of the correct name and I'll send it in. Also can someone please send me a reference to this, ISBN, pg#. Thanks
  10. I got mine today and I looked at the colours and I felt happy
  11. It's a Corydora, I was told that is what it is, i'll get a pic soon edit: thanks heaps for the above info!
  12. Some LFSs love to sell you stuff you don't need. You actually need very little to maintain a tank but the LFS says you need all these different chemicals/products etc. However i have heard those products you bought do speed up the cycling so they will help.
  13. Can someone please help with a ISBN and pg# for the Adolfoi Corydora (I think that is the scientific name?) for the rediculous MAF study. Also, the panda corydora, and trilineatus (sp?) if anyone has them. Kind regards
  14. You don't "plumb" the sand, you just hover the gravel suction tube over it and it picks up all the detritus that collects on top of the sand

    Dechlorinator

Where do you get this stuff from?
  16. Wiiicked pic! well done. Being looked after by "man and dad"? not one of those relationships is it? And if so, who is the mother? Aren't leopard danios spotted danios?

    Dechlorinator

Thanks alanmin, do you mean sodium?

    Dechlorinator

Does anyone know where to get industrial or strong dechlorinator from? I was thinking of trying a pool shop. I've just bleached one of my tanks and water ager doesn't seem to make much dent. Cheers

    Sick neon!

Sorry to hear the news Caper, do you know what your water parameters are? pH, hardness? What's your maintenance routine like? When is the last time you did a water change? If you have a quarantine tank i'd recommend you move the sick fish there while you try some treatments. What colour is this abnormality?
  20. Thanks Bluetom Bummer Wok, third time lucky as they say
  21. Show us some pics if it's not too soon Shane
  22. Great stuff Wok, i'm conditioning my cardinals at the moment, they're pretty shy tho, it ain't easy :-?
  23. might as well give the oscars a go, or get a bunch of heaters and huge pumps and add some bad boy cichlids. I don't know if varieties of barbs would eat the fish as they may be too big but they can handle summer water temps outside too. let us know how you get on
  24. are the 2 pairs in the tank together?
  25. Great news! I'd do 10% daily water changes with water of the same temp and pH and feed 3-5 times per day if you can for max growth. Perhaps lower the water level so they can find the food easier, although knowing these creatures they're probably zooming around already haha
