  1. bummer to hear nic! no plain sailing ay. still sounds like you got it sorted. also bear in mind ammonia and nitrite still occur throughout the process but is converted to nitrate in 24hrs once properly cycled. aim for discus is <10ppm nitrate tho 15-20ppm is more realistic in a planted tank.
  2. yea course bruv just drive 'em up to me :bounce:
  3. don't complain it's a beautiful plant so versatile.. ie foreground or midground plant, tie to wood, rocks, cork wall on back etc.. also great for breeders
  4. can you get a pic? sometimes the old age means a scale or two falls off but you're talking all over ay?
  5. Agreed. Yeah it's on trademe... one's waste is another's gem

    clown loaches

lol! auto water movement = don't have to swim or even move gills... SMART loaches!!! whoever called them clowns? anyway lol african... but seriously, nice to hear of some responsible fishkeepers doing the right thing when suspecting a sick fish
  8. only ever had one yo-yo loach as it harassed my other fish chronically.. will never get another one. sorry to hear bout the cut.. replace her bad experience with a good one.. eg the clown loach above.

tis a bit scary when you see the white belly of a fish.. usually not a good sign!

  11. tis a breach of the privacy act however do not yell at them... if anyone, yell at whoever gave them your number. yelling is generally not good for you though so i would advise against it

    hi

are you looking for catfish in the waikato river?
  18. Interesting Alan.. pity too.. you see some amazing plants on the net eg plantedtank.net and the planted tank comps.. still we have a lot of nice ones in NZ
  19. hi there just a lil info re baking soda.. some time ago when i researched brine shrimp extensively i found evidence that pH does not affect hatch rate or lifespan of the brine shrimp. save it for your scones instead
  20. hey mumzy50 i've found the absolute easiest and best way is to wait till they're thriving ...have them (or a culture) in a small poly box and they'll climb the sides into the ceiling of the poly box. simply lift the lid and dip the lid right into your tank... no dirt, no hassles, LOTS OF WHITEWORMS.. yessssssss! :bounce:
  21. OMG! really??! wow.. who is this Cliff guy? must admit i was wondering how much longer he'd be going at it but didn't think it would be just yet.. good on him though. ah that's good HFF sorted it broms... so follow up is important too
  22. cap gun... BAHAHHA!!! reminds me of the darwin award winners who held up a bank with sawn off shotguns and came out guns blazing at the police who were able to cease them surprisingly easier... it was later found out they were firing blanks. lol vinson! bow chica wow wow hahahah! wow alright. so suggestive too.. like you'd just finally built up the courage to try your new pick-up line.. bahahaha i got a mild one (relatively!) i was driving my parents van on my way to a friend's place and i saw his car pulling out of the liquor shop so i figured he'd gone in to get some booze. i was driving down a 2 lane stretch of road so i engine braked and came to a stop 20m before some traffic lights and waited for him to catch up in left lane. i knew he wouldn't recognise me in the van, so i was steering out as he approached and quickly realised that rather than a thin white male i was expecting to see in the driver's seat it was in fact a larger female maori with gangster-looking bf in passenger seat.
  23. beautiful! cool to see pics of a fish i haven't thought about in ages
