  1. you should be keeping your alkalinity at 8.0 dkh, minimum, I keep mine around 10. Zeo uses keep theirs closer to NSW - 7.5 ish.
  2. Well, definitely a thingy, but yes, we'll need a photo.
  3. no show, particarly with your record.........
  4. I had state insurance when a FO marine tank cracked on me. Livestock was not covered, and I believe still isn't, so double check. Mind you, that was 25 odd years ago
  5. Funny, I would have thought the fact that he found your calculations to be out by a factor of 100 was definitely "something to offer".
  6. dunno, but I see someone got banned :-?
  7. In the rock pools at Muriwai beach. You'll need a low low tide, and no significant swell (about 5 days a year!!). Have caught and keep from these: Baby Red Moki, baby maomao, small bigeye, sole, scarlet parrot fish, hiwihiwi, leaf fish, loads of different triplefins and blennies etc etc.
  8. poor things - should have reported you to the SPCA.
  9. bugger, missed some action by the look!!
  10. Small plastic ship wreck, cf opening treasure chest and diver.
  11. Yep, MAF make some ridiculous decisions. I sat a 2hr, open book, no one ever fails, course (which you can do over the internet now), and am now able to inspect and clear shipping containers delivered straight to work(old work ). What a joke, the companys importing clearing there own containers.
  12. Thats wrong reef. How are you going to transfer an organism into our waters by collecting NSW. None of my containers come into contact with water from my tank, and I am sure NO-ONE takes old water back to the sea, and in that case what difference would NSW or ASW make. You have issues with NSW apparently, but i don't understand your point here.
  13. Used to keep tiny snapper, until, like Wasp, they use to get too big, and aggressive, and I'd release them back into the ocean. Illegal, yes, will a MAF officer find out and raid your tank, unlikely, and poor form if they did. Was worth the risk, as kept baby trevally, snapper, maomao, red moki, kahawai etc, Watch your snapper though, put a lovely baby blue maomao in one day, only to watch one of the snapper bit its head straight off.
  14. Astreas breed quite sucessfully in my tank, and others. Every spawn results in 4-5 littlees.
  15. Had this model, it's easy. Go to the aquamedic site, and download the instruction manual. If you've got further problems, come back to me.
  16. from pruning, or corals that get too big and dense, much to others disgust!!
  17. Your just showing off now............ I'm sure there are alot out there Conch there's a few on my driveway

    re resea max

Patience, and more patience. you can expect various algae cycles for 6-8 months yet. There are no shortcuts for this, you need to wait.
  19. Stop dosing, you dont need it (ducks for cover)
  20. You'll have to move up here Wasp, sparkling clear water.
  21. Kawakawa would be as good, if not better. You'll just have to avoid the water after rain etc, and same tide, i.e., just before full.
  22. Used ASW on my last tank - worked well, sucessful sps tank Using NSW on my new tank - works well, sucessful sps tank so far I tend to agree with Wasp, both work equally well given all other parameters stable.
  23. yep, I was going to put up a $ figure, but tend to get bashed for scaring people off on this forum when doing that, i.e. telling the truth!!
  24. I have never fed mine, and it's at least doubled in size!! It will scavenge and find enough to survive without needing to target fed it. ....and don't shout
  25. Pretty much right, but $1000 per foot is really a fish only price. It will be more if you intend a reef tank.
