  1. It means the other one wasn't in the mood
  2. I'm not sure that you'd get enough pressure in a larger container. You might need to increase the quantities. I had lots of trouble with the coke bottle mix - either the mix was too strong and the scummy stuff started going up the airline into the water or it wasn't strong enough and there was not enough pressure to push the C02 into the tank - it even started siphoning back once. I'd suggest you experiment with coke bottles until you get it right then maybe put the bottle inside a more attractive container. I don't think having a larger container would increase how long the mix was effective either. Cheers Jude
  3. I've just painted the room my tanks are in. I used acrylic paint and when I remembered I covered the tanks - mainly to stop them getting splattered - I'm a messy painter. The fish had no problems at all. They even survived lots of loud hammering close to the tank when my father repaired some floorboards. Cheers Jude
  4. What is ripcord? Where do you get it? And does it work on spiders too? Cheers Jude
  5. I finally got to see the pictures - they are great looking tanks. I loved the 4' one. Cheers Jude
  6. Hope its not like growing vegetables Shae - when veges bolt (grow fast) like that they go to seed early too ............   Cheers Jude
  7. I have a Queen Loach in my big tank and I haven't seen a snail yet even though my plants get changed from tank to tank and all the others have snails. It doesn't uproot the plants either and I have heard that clown loaches do - not sure if thats correct or not. There is a pic on this link http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewto ... c&start=30 Cheers Jude
  8. Hi Eric Can you put a sheet of glass over the top? Or even a piece of cardboard? I only know what I have read in these forums about whitespot but what about lots and lots of water changes and vacuuming the bottom. Maybe this will catch them at the free swimming stage before they reinfect the fish. Cheers Jude
  9. I've got it ............ use Caryl's idea and get a cheap paddling pool from the warehouse. Many of them come with frames that can be dismantled for storage Cheers Jude
  10. Sounds like a problem. Can you get a plastic rubbish bin big enough to take it? Otherwise how about a fishtank   If you can't sink it you might need to tie some lead weights discreetly to it in order to make it stay down. Cheers Jude
  11. I've done it too, but luckily for me it was out on the deck and we heard the water before the tank was more than half emptied    Cheers Jude
  12. Sheeeshhhhh, is the whole world out to confuse me?   Not to worry, I will try again later Cheers Jude

  16. Hi Emma. welcome to the site. Hope you manage to join us in the chatroom sometimes Cheers Jude
  17. Not that I know anything at all about fishrooms. but a drain might make water changes easier ........... unless you already have automatic water changes or something worked out
  18. LOL, don't worry about it - I should have noticed it was a more recent post
  19. There isn't one ................ Stick a hose in it, stir it up from time to time and let the hose run till the water running out is clear ............... then do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With gravel I used a bucket with holes in the bottom. We had it hanging up in bathroom for grandsons bath toys. I stuck it in the bath, used the shower head and just kept washing till the water came clear .............. but that wouldn't work with sand and anyway I got told off cause I might have blocked the drain ................ giggle Cheers Jude

The tanks are looking great Paul, and like Steve I am impressed by how clean they are. I just love the guppy tank, so bright and full of colour - makes me want one like that too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you pleased you used the sand? And would you do it again? It looks really fantastic in the photos. Cheers Jude
  21. Now I'm puzzled. I thought I had replied to this post saying I hope you all have as much fun as we did down here, and wishing I could come too ....... maybe I was dreaming!!!!!!!!!! Cheers Jude ................................... Ignore me, I just saw the post I'd replied to. Thats not fair Rob, I am very easily confused you know
