Is there only 1 tank? I thought you wanted to hook 8 up
  2. Why not. Just take a pair out as needed.

Spoon is right, depends on where it is and how much water you are wanting to pump through. To make it not as loud you would just need to spend more, like the durso above.
  4. Welcome to the system. Even if you did everything right chances are still high that they would not be released.
  5. Sure, lots of fish will spawn like that. Most get eaten or eggs go bad.

Under $50 Will have to get some bargins then. Is noise a problem? If not then you can use 19mm irrigation gear. you will need elbows and gromets/top hats Holes size required is 22mm from memory. Then just use 19mm pipe to carry water to sump, i would think you could get that for under $30.00 Water to the tanks you could use 13mm irrigation gear. Otherwise RX style bulkhead fittings could be up around $10 each plus pipes and other fittings etc Couple of ideas.

    Chocolate gouramis

Would really depend on the ph difference. Most fish i buy just get thrown stright in. A bit more care is taken with these types of fish as they can just fall over before your eyes.

    Chocolate gouramis

An hour or so is to long i feel. 30 - 45mins at most. Add a small amount every 5mins. Or you could set up a drip system.

    Chocolate gouramis

Because they are a small fish the ones that are imported are of a decent size. Biggest problem i have found with them was shocking them when poutting them in a new tank, Ph was the issue most of the time.
  11. bloodworms are like sweets to kids. They are a good food but you need to feed a balanced diet. Stop the blood worm and don't feed anything else for a day or two, then try the mussel or other foods again. If he is hungry he will eat.
  12. or just take the eggs out and put them in a bucket with meth blue and a air stone
  13. Thats right your spot on. Can't do it know with the new IHS but could with the old one
  14. Was more than 12 to 15 and have come in since 1992. As there latin name was Osteoglossum jardinii they came in under "Osteoglossum sp" which at the time was a legal import. As you would know that has since changed. There was a good number down south from an importer here. Cool fish but they get big alright
  15. They have come into the country on a number occasions. there was one not so long ago down this way
  16. try some live food if mussels don't work. Also keep the light level right down for a day or to.
  17. does look great, had a look the other day. Better than the black tape i had on some tanks in the past.

    Sick Australes?

Strange that the ph dropped down from above 8.0 within 45mins, i would think the test is incorrect. Testing ph is a science in itsself. I also top up fry tanks from other larger tanks in the first week or so.

    Sick Australes?

young fry really don't need much food at all and any extra food rots really quick. The combination of feeding small amounts of food a couple of times a day and small water changes should help the problem. Also adding snails and some plant material will also help. None of my tanks have filters at all and water is crystal clear, they only go into filtered tanks once they get to about 10mm, not just killis but any fry i have.
  20. True, but what if you could help reduce collecting of rare fish in local areas if there was a way to breed them?
  21. no worries. Just make sure you get "normally closed" valves, that is they require power to open. This way if there is a power cut they don't open.
  22. Thanks spoon, will let you know if the others don't work.
